You are an early adopter, in six months the situation will improve.
There are some problems, especially for users who are not familiar with computers.
But if someone wants to read a few posts, look for answers. He gets an amazing vr kit for very little money compared to other new vr kits on cable (and with beautiful oled colors).
You're right.
Just gotta be patient and be thankful for what I've got :)
In addition, you bought an adapter and many people who did not do it on the first day still cannot find it anywhere.
SteamVR simply sucks. For years.
Even regular users (I am owning a Valve Index and Q3) are facing a lot of issues due to Valve not doing a proper job.
Current issue, just fresh, SteamVR 2.8.3 - Valve decided to delete a library file from your PC during the SteamVR update (reinitializing a driver reinstall for DirectX and f**king over the library) and this causing lots of issues on your PC, as those library files are there for a reason - graphical stuff, like rendering, processing and Co.
It is a critical file.
It boggles my mind how Valve is able to do such nonsense, their IT prowess is abysmal for the money they get...
I'm convinced that it's because of the stupid fashion of basing everything on browsers. If it's going to work like a browser, let it work as a web page open in my default browser that I like.
In addition, constant updates, each with new bugs. For a while in the background, it's always better to make bad changes silently. Before they find bugs in the version, there are already two new ones with new bugs.
It's time for the steam program in the mini version, which does not provide anything other than the ability to run the game.

(Start here if you have problems. (controllers, app, other tips))
If something won't close, you can kill the process.
If something crashes, especially on a regular basis, it's very likely that something is overheating (bluetooth usb adapter?).
First it was incredibly low FPS, then issues like the headset not being recognised pop up, despite playing for a few hours unimpeded a day earlier...
Left hand control disappearing while playing Alyx randomly..
Sound not coming through the headset after exiting a game, plus the headset then not appearing as a sound options, despite it literally being there just minutes before.
It's just one new problem after another.
Hard reset sometimes doesn't even work, and unplugging the headset to the adaptor, and even reconnecting the adaptor to the PC is necessary at times.
My PC is in good working order too. No other issues.
But still, I'm grateful to be able to finally experience VR on PC, such as it is.
Btw the Oculus PC App isn't compatible with 3050 cards. I use a 4090 so I'm good.
All of a sudden, the right controller won't connect.
To this point, I've experienced zero issues with Bluetooth, and NOW I CAN"T EVEN RECONNECT THE ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ CONTROLLERS.
♥♥♥♥ this ♥♥♥♥
Reconnected to the PS5, and confirmed that the controllers are functional.
Now both of them refuse to connect to the PC
I'm going to buy another bluetooth adaptor to see if that helps.
This is a joke
Lets see how this goes now.
P.S. Sorry for the frustrated words above. I've honestly spent probably nearly half the time of my experience with this setup going through various technical issues. I just wanna play lol
So after all these issues, I loaded Skyrim VR
Loaded in to an indoor cell, and it was fine.
Went outdoors....and it was lagging to the point that it is unplayable.
Hard restart.
This sucks.
I'd love to, but I'm not going to be spending any more on VR anytime soon...
I have 3060ti btw - not ideal I know, but it's honestly worked great for everything I've tried so far....when you know, VR actually works properly.
