Using both Quest 3 and Vive Pro 2
I am having something of a problem. I have been using a Vive Pro 2 with index controllers quite happily for the past year and have recently purchased a Quest 3 when I found an offer with a year's interest free credit. Both headsets have their pros and cons and I will probably go into this on a later posting. I got the Meta Quest Link software installed (an adventure in itself.. hint!... it does not like two display-port sockets filled, even though one had been disconnected from its source) and got the Quest 3 going using a Link cable. I am a sitting player for the most part due to arthritis so wireless operation does not worry me.

The problem is that since the Quest 3 was installed I have only been able to run games on the Vive Pro 2 intermittently. The Vive software and Steam VR on startup run happily, but when I try to run a game with the Vive it does not start at all, or sound starts but the game seems to be running on the VR desktop but not in the headset with Steam VR running happily but nothing else. Quest 3 happily starts everything so far.

The Quest did install a version of Steam VR from the Meta store so it would seem that there may be two Steam VRs running concurrently, or the incorrect version (if that is the case) for the particular headset. However only one Steam VR is listed as being installed so I am none the wiser. I do not claim to be a coder but can generally find my way around a Windows PC. PC is home built, mainly of MSI components for no particular reason other than they were on offer at the time and in my experience have quite happily done what they should. Specs are Ryzen 9 5900x watercooled, MSI X570-A Pro motherboard, Nvidia 4080 GPU, 129 GB 3200 Mhz RAM, numerous drives with either M2 or SSD used for games. So far it has been very reliable.

Before I start systematically start to uninstall and reinstall everything, I wonder if anyone else has the same experience, or is it just greedy of me to want two headsets! Any help or idea will be appreciated.

Regards to All

Wait, does the quest 3 run on a dp port? i thought it was a USB connection based device.

Running 2 different HMD devices can be a pain in the a&&, for me running a pico4 and a pico 3neo link, experiance some problems too, the pico 4 has his own connetion software program (pico connect) and when i use the pico 4 i run this program and that opens automaticly steam vr . This runs smoothly. but when i use the pico3 after that with its own connection program (pico link) steam vr doesnt open at all. reason is the pico3 connect software (that i closed on the desktop) is still running in the (taskbars) hidden pictograms folder.
So i have to go to that hidden pictograms folder and close it there. Then i can use the other HMD device.
So tip one check your hidden app pictograms folder.
I have for both HMD devices external power. but i have to keep the cabel in my pico 4 (can not disconnect the cable) or else the pico 3neo link will not be reconiced (code 108).
So it can be a pogramm isseu , but also can be a powering isseu for me.

And no its not greedy to want and have 2 headsets. I use the pico3 neo link for racing games because its DP based and not so blurry as a USB based connected HMD device (F1 24) The pico 4( USB connection based) i use for standing games like all in one sport and FPT (tennis game)

I am aware that we dont use the same HMD devices but hope it gives some direction points where to look and may be it helps. Reinstalling programs is always an option.( tip when closing down the pc is to pull the wall plug for 30 sec before restarting the pc)
