Question on increasing "per eye" resolution
Recently I tried experimenting with increasing the resolution per eye through the SteamVR settings. The higher I increase it, the slower everything gets, but the image quality can be made as high fidelity as a flat screen. So my question is this. Is the decrease in FPS due to my computer not being able to render the increased resolution to my Quest 2 or is the problem the Quest 2 is unable to process the increased resolution fast enough?

My computer is pretty powerful and can run most games at the Ultra or highest settings. But then again, I understand the GFX card is now rendering two scenes instead of one.

So should I upgrade the computer or is it not worth it if the Quest 2 is the bottleneck.

Geforce GTX 1060 6GB. 16GB memory. i7-8700 @3.20 GHz processor.
yeah a little lower than mine but i think its just related to the headset

You said you were have the same problem. Did you upgrade to a better headset? What is your resolution setting?

The problem is your GPU. GTX 1060 is the min spec for VR. VR not only renders twice, once for each eye, but at 90 Hz.

What GPU would you recommend?

For VR, the fastest Nvidia GPU you can afford, up to and including 3080.

Bleh. It's a bad time to upgrade a GPU. Most people are selling +$200 over MSRP for the 3080.
