When you leave steamvr your pc is turning off a lot of vr processes and overlays, restarting your explorer back to normal etc. Thats your locks. Noise might be related to gpu fan going way up for a second if your drivers also restart at that moment, or hdd drive that you might have. These things often make noises straight from hell. Cloud errors are a common thing right now, i think its a new problem, i hadnt had it like a year ago and now i do. I wouldnt be concerned about any damages though. It just works like that. If you want to be extra safe just disconnect your vr devices when you restart your pc. Just when the power goes out. I used to do just that before. Overall, its nothing serious i believe.
Have a good one!
Thanks! I'm not sure what the noise is but its a high pitched whine, almost like coil whine. It claims that the GPU is drawing high power until I shut down SteamVR. I've had this before actually but only while playing a mod made for portal 2 (valve thing?). So I'm not sure. But the usage for the GPU remains very low when this happens. Like I said though, it locks up for much longer than I'd expect to restart things. I'm pretty sure it would stay locked up if I didn't shut it down. Very odd behavior.
