Pico 3x or Pico 4 users: DP Connection problems? Headset not found?

I don't have the answer. Sorry to get your hopes up.
BUT I'm working towards a fix. Let me rephrase, I'm working on a repeatable, reliable definition of the problem. The fix itself will come later.

I'm compiling data related to DP installations only. Specifically, gpu and video circuit drivers and hardware such as adapters, cables, gimpets and gadgets.
I only care about Displayport right now.

You can DM me your answers or post them. Either way.
Any updates I have will be posted. I don't expect it to be quick or easy.

Do you have a Pico 3 or 4?
3 Pro

What make and model GPU? Notebook or Desktop?
Nvidia 3060 Laptop

Which connector are you using on your PC/Notebook?
C and Mini DP

Are you using a genuine Pico DP cable?
Yes

Are you using any adapters? Who is the manufacturer?
Yes a piece of crap Amazon brand dp to DP and Cable Matters USBC to DP.

Are there any other devices in the circuit? Splitters, hubs, audio extractors etc.
No.

How often does it fail?
Me? 100% now. My DP now fails 100% of the time.

Do you review the SteamVR logs?

Have you lost hope? Have you tried putting your face up to the monitor with hopes of being "immersed"? Do keep going back to that dude on eBay with the $440 HTC Vive pro 2 with scratched lenses and think, "Scratches? Who cares? I bet it connects just fine"

laptop isn't helping things, I have both neo 3 link and pico 4, although pico 4 doesn't have a display port??

for neo 3 pro, if you are on latest rom, you need to now use pico business streaming assistant, uninstall any other pico software so steam does not look in the wrong place for the driver.

if this has started happening recently, roll back any GPU driver update.

for my neo 3 link, using pico link software / drivers on PC, nothing has changed.

desktop and latest rom on headset where it is still pico link- I have confirmed 1.0 of business streaming assistant also working when sideloaded on and using that program on pc too.

i'd suggest trying to join picoxr discord, but a laptop does make things harder, having the neo 3 pro which is an enterprise headset also makes things harder, i'm assuming it is also a china headset, making things triple the difficulty, more so if you have 'region' switched or flashed 'global' roms onto the headset.
