- A Lighthouse tracked headset (The Index is one, and is included in the full kit)
- Lighthouse tracked controllers (Index controllers are the best here anyway, included in the full kit)
- Lighthouses/Basestations, 1.0 HTC branded ones (flat front), and the curved front 2.0 ones work at first. I recommend the 2.0 ones because they have better upgradability down the line if you decide you want to have better coverage for fullbody. (Two 2.0's are included in the Index kit).
You want at least two base stations. if you get the curved front ones, you can also get a third or fourth one for better tracking coverage, but I recommend to go with two and then only upgrade if needed.
Then you want Lighthouse trackers for fullbody. I recommend at least three, though more can work too but you will often have to troubleshoot a bit more. They also need dongles, but basically any newly bought tracker includes those.
You could use Vive 1.0, 2.0 or 3.0 trackers (not ultimates!), Tundra Trackers (purchaseable from EOZ), EteeVR trackers or Manus. Generally for fullbody, Tundra's or vive 3.0's are your prefered options, they both work basically in the same way.
You will also need some straps to mount the trackers on your body. For waist, offbrand ones work. For feet and arms/legs (If you go that deep, you don't have to) I recommend EOZ branded ones.
Honestly, most people will opt for three trackers only (Waist and both feet) for the sake of comfort and affordability.
You can, in theory, use Lighthouse trackers with a non-Lighthouse tracked headset like a Quest too, however, you will have to double-calibrate (Avoidable if you get a extra tracker to put and mount on the headset) and you will have to use workaround software (Space Clibrator, preferably with Continious calibration), However, even in such a setup, you will *still* need to have base stations.
Then, PC ports:
You will need a DirectDisplay mode capable DisplayPort output for the Index (this basically rules out any laptops, basically all desktop GPU connectors support this), and one USB 3.0+ port for the Index headset itself.
You will also need one USB 2.0 port for !!EACH!! tracker to connect the dongle to. I usually suggest *against* using hubs, though there are MTT capable hubs out there that work well with fullbody dongles, but that applies only to some USB 2.0 hubs and not to most hubs you can buy usually.
That'd be sweet, I'd love to have a set up at home. I got a rig that'd run VR specifically, but never ended up getting the gear lol.
