SteamVR

Feature requests for the Valve Index Successor, The Index 2
Camera passthrough like the Quest 3, more portability with the option to do PCVR for more processing power, more support for operating my desktop on a virtual multi-monitor setup, compatibility to run existing programs through Steam VR or onboard (effectively enabling sideloading like on Android) and I'd like to see movement towards SteamOS for the Deck merging with VR so that we have a Window replacement, since Microsoft clearly cannot be trusted.

Perhaps we can use this thread to offer Valve feedback on what we'd like to see in the next Index. This will be my first VR headset purchase, and being that it's been out about 6 years I think I'd like to see an upgraded version before I buy.

Update: I think a microphone would be a good idea given that AI games are making their way in and everyone is going to want to talk to characters in Skyrim, for example.

If at all possible, make the headset modular so that parts can be upgraded or used for other tasks, such as the aforementioned microphone; make it so that it can be detached and plugged in elsewhere; likewise for headphones/speakers.

You do realize that the Index already has dual microphones and pass thru cameras.

Secondly, Deckard has been in development for several years now; I don’t think basic ideas are going to be of interest to Valve at this point.

EDIT:
Most expectations are that Deckard will run on a version of SteamOS and it is widely expected to be a hybrid system that can operate standalone and be paired with a Pc for better performance. Not sure how much Valve cares to follow more of the AR stuff like the Vision Pro; but that is mostly on the software side of things so who knows
