only those who downloaded youtubeVR, like myself, can still enjoy it. It's not in the store no longer since google discontinued VR research in some aspect.

you can still watch youtube in steamVR. open up dashboard, open up the desktop view, and you can view it in there on a webrowser. as a matter of fact, the experience is about the same.

So you are able to see your desktop using the dashboard in SteamVR? When I open the dashboard and click on the "desktop" button on the lower left, nothing shows. It's just a transparent screen.

I saw YouTube VR in the Oculus store the other day. Not sure if that is significant to your question or not. I never did anything with it.

Basically, the VR dashboard works like a desktop. I sometimes pop that up infront of my desk and have a wireless mouse and keyboard. I don't need to see what I'm typing but its pretty neat lookat at a web brower fullscreen. Sometimes ill just sit infront of my playspace and use the hand controllers with the desktop's built in keyboard to enter data with my vr controllers.

I don't know why yours is transparent.

Nevermind. I can see it now. For some reason using TrinusVR it wouldn't show. But using OpenTrack OpenVR it does.

As they've stated above, YouTube VR has been removed from visibility on the Steam store. If you don't already have it, you can't download it.
If you're specifically wanting to view 360° and 3D content in your VR headset, several other options that used to be popular also no longer seem to work (at least for me) including DeoVR and Opera VR Player.

However, it's possible to use Opera Browser version 55 to view 3D and 360° content in your VR headset, but you have to jump through some hoops first.

I posted a guide on setting up Opera v55 in the YouTube VR Community Hub, but I'm not sure it will be visible to people without YouTube VR already. Let me know if you can see this, and if not I'll see if I can post it elsewhere:

As --ranXerox-- noted, you could open your dashboard in SteamVR and watch YouTube from your desktop.

You could launch a game, browser (as a non-Steam game?), or application while in VR (if you have Steam Desktop Game Theater enabled), minimize the application/game to see your desktop, and watch YouTube from a browser on your desktop.

You could also download Bigscreen Beta and watch YouTube videos from your desktop. It's cool to watch videos in different and picturesque virtual environments.

If you want to watch YouTube 360 videos, you could follow ReverendTed's guide. I'm not sure if Bigscreen Beta supports 360 videos, but you could investigate that yourself if needed.

The YouTubeVR discussions forums are still on steam (link below). But all they say is how broken it is now... stereoscopic videos that previously displayed correctly no longer do.
