Same problem here, seems steam is not yet 0.7 compatible :(

Exiting SteamVR doesn't seem to turn the Rift off though, so I have to use Oculus Configuration Utility to do that again too.
Now that there is a workaround, I can keep developing, but it would be good if you would fix this bug. When I build my own Oculus applications against the 0.6 SDK, they don't have this bug.
1. Launch SteamVR
2. Show Demo Scene from Oculus Configuration Utility
3. Click Close Demo Scene button from Oculus Configuration Utility main window
4. Start our app
However the overlay is completly drowning out the scene behind it. Any suggestions?
There is a trick to fixing that... you have to run Virtual Desktop for the Oculus Rift and press F8, then Virtual Desktop will show that split image on the DK2.

But, to see the Vive Demo stuff, I'm not sure how I did it. I was able to get into it at some point. Clicking on Steam VR, and one time saw the VR menu and launched some stuff.
