Quest 3 won't connect to SteamVR

I'm totally lost here. I bought the Meta Quest 3, I tried to airlink it but SteamVR keeps saying "Waiting to connect" it just refuses too even though both are connected to the wifi. So I bought a link cable. My pc sees my quest 3 as connected, but Steam VR keeps moaning about "Waiting to connect trough wifi". I tried to uninstall and reinstall steamVR but then it kept saying something about quest 2 or other devices need to be manually selected at the HMD. Again refuses to connect. This beyond frustrating, I had the occulust rift in the past never had any connection issues, now I can't connect my damn Meta Quest 3 to the freaking PC to play my games, what is going on, how do i fix this cause i begin to regret my purchase a lot right now.
And yes I did turn off airlink.

Having the same problem here, can't connect to SteamVR via AirLink or Cable. Tried reinstalling SteamVR, starting it as administrator - no luck.

I then tried the connection over SteamLink, starting SteamLink from the Quest 3 directly. This way I could successfully see the SteamVR start environment and even start games like Star Trek but the game was all laggy, with sound and video lags. Couldn't smooth it out by changing the frame rate or encoding options. I guess we will need more advice here.

It works for me now, I guess my mistake was that when I boot up the Quest 3 is that I was in Augmented Reality mode. The only thing different that I did was tapping the side of the Meta Quest 3 to get into the Virtual Environment mode, started Steamlink and bam, I had access to my steam VR games. For none steam games I just pressed questlink button and end up in the environment and can boot up DCS with it. User error I guess, though It would have been nice if they would give some sort of warning that you can't boot up steam trough Augmented mode? If that was the problem, anyway it works now for me.
