Trouble with SteamVR and Pico 4
Hi there,

I hope I've come to the right place and that someone can help me. I recently bought a Pico 4 and have been trying for days now to get it running with SteamVR. I'm slowly getting desperate.

When I started it up, I got Virtual Desktop straight away and VD itself and games that don't run via SteamVR work perfectly and with good resolution. However, as soon as I start SteamVR, the home screen (with the white circles on the ground and the mountains in the background) is totally pixelated/blurred. Sometimes it hangs there and it just says "waiting", sometimes it goes on to the little house with still very poor resolution. If I then turn my head, the picture runs with a black frame behind it or starts to flicker (black frames). So very laggy somehow. SteamVR off and everything runs smoothly again.

I've tried what feels like every combination of codecs and settings with VD. Some of the behavior changes, but nothing conclusive. In all the videos on the subject, the settings are usually set to Auto anyway and that at least just works somehow.
I would rule out a general hardware or WLAN problem for now as everything works great without SteamVR. I've already reinstalled everything, but it doesn't help. I've been searching the forums and videos on the subject for days now, but I can't find anything comparable.

A few more side notes:
Win10
Pico 4 (latest FW)
VD on Pico (SW latest version)
SteamVR (official version and beta tried)
Connection with WLAN
I can list hardware if needed

I hope I was able to describe it quite well and that maybe someone here can help me. If I have posted in the wrong area then "sorry" and please move me to the right area.

Thank you in advance
Tim

I have a Pico 4 as well and I have run it OK. Have you tried both Virtual Desktop Streamer and Streaming Assistant?

I had some issues with streaming assistent aswell so I directly switched to Virtual Desktop.
Did you do any special settings in SteamVR or VD? Or all just on auto?

I haven't any special settings its on auto.

Using a Pico 4 also. Last night i played "Wanderer", a good looking game and have not any problems.
Using a AMD 6700XT with 12 GB VRam.
What kind of hardware you are running for SteamVR, Timbo ?

Ah i am using Streaming Assistent only and connected over USB-Cable.
Also i am on Windows 10 but i didn´t the last crap Beta-Firmware for Pico 4. Instead still using PicoOS 5.8.2 amd the old SA.

The BlurEffect i know from my really old headset Samsung Odyssee +. But not in WMR, only in SteamVR. Long time ago ^^

I didn't do the last update either but I would be surprised if that's the issue

Problem is you can´t go backwards to older firmware. Pico won´t allow that.
Maybe there is a hack to do. A good place for searching is REDDIT.
