Connecting Quest 3 VR to Steam Wirelessly
So I have a unique issue which may have not be able to get resolved. I am unable to connect wirelessly to steam because the wifi network is set to public. The wifi in my apartment is setup like a commercial enterprise network where you have a mass scale wifi that covers all of the apartment buildings. Our units have a password that give us access to that wifi network however it is set to public. I've contacted Wirestar Networks (my internet provider) and they said there is no way to change it to private as it would have to be done across the entire wifi.

Any work arounds for this or am I just stuck using a cable until I move out of this plus? This is the first apartment I've lived in where I didn't have access to the router settings.

Wirestar Network offered to put the MAC address for the headset onto the network but I don't think that will solve anything as I can already connect to the internet and download games. The issue is just with connecting to steam only.

You buy a dedicated router for wireless, and that can be private, and only for your Quest 3. This connects directly to your PC, not to your building's router. Your Quest 3 then connects to this router, which then gives you access to your PC Steam library.
Get a Wifi 6e router, like the TP-Link AXE5400, and you're good to go.

If you have access to devmode- Try alvr. You need the same version on the quest and pc. and if that doesnt work, if you have a phone with an old moble hotspot feature connect that to wifi and use it as a hotspot with the settings you need. Good luck.
