Valve, take the criticism, and fix it. This is a kind opinion, do not hide rubbish under the carpet, it will harm you.
Select properties of SteamVR, Beta, select previous.
Now I can play again without a hot CPU. ( Must be the same for you ? )
You get version 2.5.5 instead of 2.6
Quest 3
No problem with Oculus link app.
Microsoft Windows 11 Pro
AMD Ryzen 9 5900X 12-Core Processor 3.70 GHz
BaseBoard-Produkt B550 AORUS PRO V2
AMD Radeon RX 7900 XT
50-60C idle
but with steam vr temps spikes to 78C+
No one seems to have a answer. Their just like "its fine bro".
And? No temperature to worry about.
I found out how to resolve this problem at least for myself
Enter the setting menu and enable debug menu
It reduced temperature from 82C to 68-70C
What the hell is going on...!?
At any rate I just want to thank those here who suggested enabling the debug graph...never would've thought that would help.
Mobo: Asus RGO Strix B550-A
CPU: AMD 5900X
RAM: Corsair Vengeance 32 GB kit (3000 MHz)
GPU: RTX 3090
EDIT: Meant to say, they're supposed to run at that temp under heavy load/usage.
The problem isn't that the CPU heats up, that is normal, the problem is, that the CPU, while steamVR is running, runs way hotter than it would under a 100 % all core load scenario, while it's under only as low as 10 % load. See my detailed description and testing of this issue here:

Yes it's totally fine for a CPU to run at high temperatures, most don't even start throttling until they reach 90-95 degrees C. The issue here is the CPU needlessly heating up while it's not really doing much work at all.
