How to check vr performance?
The vr performance testing program has been removed from steam, is there a way to test performance here?

What VR Performance testing program?

I use FpsVR myself, and that is still on steam.

I think OP is talking about this the old steamvr test program for non vr users to test if their system can handle vr. It's been pulled. There's still an informational webpage (no app there) but the link won't post in a steam forum, suffix is app/323910/SteamVR_Performance_Test/. Wild guess: it was pulled for two reasons:
1) because it tested performance of cpu and gpu, but there's machines that cant run vr because of driver issues or other problems (especially laptops).
2) It was introduced when the VR min gpu (GTX 970) was expensive and fast, and most PCs didn't have the GPU power for VR. That's much less of a problem now, and #1 may have become more of a problem, resulting in too many false positives.

Best advice for OP is to post his CPU and GPU specs, or laptop model (if laptop), or google [laptop model] & [VR model under consideration] and see if anyone is using that combination.

I know of one, but it doesn't give detailed information. When you turn on SteamVR, click on the 3 lines on the left side of STEAMVR, then click on Display Performance Graph. It shows you're current frame-rates performance from normal (green) to (yellow), (orange), or just terrible (red).

Do you mean this one?

https://store.steampowered.com/app/1070910/Are_you_ready_for_Valve_Index/

I can still get to it and use it, though maybe that is because I have already used it on this account.

Huh, wierd, I can get to it and download it but it errors when I try to link to it... (Haven't tried running it as I am on Virtual Desktop right now and don't want to screw something up.)

No, that one is called "are you ready for valve index," and this one
https://store.steampowered.com/app/323910/SteamVR_Performance_Test/
is called "SteamVR Performance Test." Both now unavailable on Steam.
