Does WiFi 5 works fine with PCVR on OC3?
planning to buy OC3 and dont actually want to change my current router, which is WiFi 5

have anyone tried their OC3 with WiFi 5, is it any good or I should buy new router with WiFi 6E?

There are different 5Ghz routers. You have to look which standard it supports. The newest 5Ghz standard is Wifi 6, which shows up as wifi type ax. It supports a bandwith of 160Mhz. The former 5Ghz standard was ac. Which supports only 80 Mhz bandwith and is slower overall. The difference between WIFI 6 and 6e is only that Wifi 6e also supports a carrier frequency of 6Ghz to work better in crowded neighbourhoods, but the speed is roughly the same as Wifi 6, despite Wifi 6 operating in 5Ghz / 2.4 Ghz mode.

I am typing this on my Quest 3 on 5Ghz WIFI from a GL.iNet Flint2 (MT6000) Wifi 6 (not 6e) router with firmware v4.5.4.

I operate the 5Ghz Wifi at Channel 100 (DFS) with a bandwith of 160Mhz and ax protocol. Since no one in my neighbourhood uses the DFS channels (above 100) i have those 160Mhz bandwith for me alone.

I get 2400 Mbits on my Quest 3 (thats the value reported in the settings).

Steam Link is configured for 120Hz and target rate of 350 mbit (maximum). With 100% resolution (no oversampling).

So far i experienced no jitter or any form of frame drops related to the WIFI. Of course if the game itself experiences framedrops (loading of new assets, etc.) one can feel it, but thats to be expected.

You might ask, why i put the firmware version up there. Thats because in version 4.5.5 Glinet decided to include updated wifi drivers. With those i experienced heavy frame drops, but back to 4.5.4 those were gone. So not all updates are good. Maybe 4.5.6 is good again ... who knows. But its good to have a combination that works.

I cannot see a reason to update to 6 Ghz Wifi (6e) other than having issues with a very tech savy neighbourhood with a full 5 Ghz saturation in the upper DFS channels.

I hope this helps.
