Best color to paint a room dedicated to VR
I am wondering what colors are going to be best to paint a room that will use IR emitters... also, would it be a flat paint or gloss?? do you light reflection, or would that interfere with the sensors? would you want it to absorb all the light, so that there is a better masking and tracking ability?? has anyone heard of development test for this? Thanks!

Just normal white paint will be just fine. If you want to do green-screen mixed reality stuff, painting in green may be a good idea. Gloss should not be a problem but to play it safe, I'd use flat paint. But really, you don't have to paint the room at all ;-)

so you dont think that IR light being reflected off walls will cause a lot of Ambient IR Light to fill the room and cause problems with the sensors? if so, i wont worry about paint, for now... i would like to test the theory out some day, if someone has not already test it... Thanks for your input...

Paint the walls?! You need to mount foam cushioning panels for when you ignore the chaperone system and crash into the walls. 😀

The lasers are low-power, and very dim even in a dark room. And chances are they reflect off very little other than the controllers/headset itself.

Certainly not with normal paint. Developers like myself using the device every day would have noticed that ;-)

One thing I didn't test more deeply, yet, is what happens when the room is completely dark. I did seem to lose tracking one time when I did this but never tried again, so I don't know if that was actually an issue.

Shouldn't matter unless your room is a 5'x5' box
