Is it common for Quest Link cable and Airlink to not work on Quest 3?
I'm stumped. New Quest 3 with new Quest 2 Link Cable.
Quest 3 linked to phone app.
Plugged in Link cable - pc recognised it was a quest 3 on the oculus app.
Tested USB 3 connection speed 2.6GBS
Launched link app, get stuck on 3 white loading dots in my headset, close app - ''cannot find your headset''.

Pretty much the same thing happens with air link. It will tell me im connected on the oculus app but will get stuck in the 3 dot loading sequence. I'll close the app and immediately get a ''cannot find the headset''

If the airlink worked then i would put it down to the Link Cable.

Reinstalled the oculus PC app, reset the Quest 3 back to factory, made sure all USB Ports had disabled the ability to be disconnected, made sure windows firewall wasn't blocking anything. Edit: also made sure my network was set to private. Tried both USB 3 (or is it usb c? im not sure what they're called). Made zero difference.

Finally after hours, i try the Steam Link just out of curiosity and it immediately boots up and works.

Really strange. My PC is well above the required specs and i think at this point i've tried everything.

Is Virtual Desktop the easiest solution to playing my Oculus PC games?

ya its normal for oculus on pc to bug out and just stop working nobody really knows why and everyone has different reasons for why it happens :(

a reinstall and a bunch of prayers usually works... luckily i havent had the issue for 1 year now but it happens and meta is never going to fix their stuff :)

for me personally it was something related to my ip being blocked by facebook / meta servers and using a vpn or mobile phone data solved it for me but its different for everybody

and no theres no ryhme or reason to why that was a fix for me lol

I tried virtual desktop and i figure between that and steam link, i should be ok. If the oculus side of things decide to sort themselves out then great lol

It is my experience as well that Air Link works, but sometimes will just stop working. Virtual desktop is rock solid. But Air Link supports games that VD doesn't, for example, Chronos (Meta PCVR store).
