I'm not sure when, they haven't stated any release date. But it's confirmed to be free and open source.

For a while they've said this year (2023). From recent comments, it sounds like they're pushing to get it out by Christmas. They haven't promised the Christmas date though.

You already have Elite Dangerous, Star Wars: Squadrons, War Thunder, and Project Wingman for VR.

Why would you want some specific flat game given the huge selection of air/space flight & combat sims we already have?

Elite Dangerous = snooze fest, SW:Squadrons = space action game \ short \ most people finished it a trillion times, War Thunder = paycrap multiplayer software, Project Wingman - nice try (mediocre graphics, ok mission) - but the only reason it exists is because we did not have ACE COMBAT 7 VR.

To be honest, and no offense, this is one of the most ignorant questions i have seen. We are getting VR with AAA games thanks to the injector and you are saying why aren't you playing the handful more or less mediocre and low budget games we have for over 7 years now...

we have stuff like VTOL VR and people want modded ace combat? praydog's stuff is good, but come on. "porting" to VR can only go so far. these generic wrappers and things like vorpx always fall short. modded ace combat over VTOL VR... lulz. if you're looking for "story", and that's being very generous, then go play ace combat. having VR doesn't mean flat screen ceases to exist.

if you need mods to "justify" your VR purchase, you just don't get it

I also don't regret buying the quest 3 for Cyberpunk Phantom Liberty in VR with the Luke Ross Mod. So yeah, non VR games can be better in VR. At least I enjoy the game even more so. So why are you quarelling about something you haven't even experienced?
