Yes. You can't even click some items on your desktop when you open steamvr and click on desktop view (using my quest 3)...and then when I go back to my pc, the left click just doesn't work anymore. WTF is this horrendous steamvr update? it's garbage.

my vr works in virtual desktop just fine until i launch steamvr. every game has over 400ms network latency which it should not considering im wifi 6 and transmitting 1200mbps.

yes steamvr is a mess right now. EVERY game that has flat screen and vr option, is unplayable. they messed up real bad. forced flat screen vr theater or whatever that crap is called tanks fps. you can not close it once it starts. but all games that have ONLY vr mode works fine.

lets hope they fix this and GIVE US BACK OPTION TO NEVER LAUNCH DESKTOP GAME THEATER.

well that does make sense however i tried to play a VR only game the other day (tactical assault vr) and it was the same issue. I do plan on trying to go hardwired and see if i can fix some stuff by launching through oculus instead of steamvr.

This has been driving me crazy yesterday and today. It's been a few months since I last played PCVR due to work etc, but spotted a good discount on Walking Dead 2 so bought it and went to play. I could play PCVR via Virtual Desktop perfectly in the past with full 1200Mbps connection to my ASUS TUF AX5400 dedicated only for the Quest 2.

I'm getting about 5 mins of gaming before it starts freezing up for about 10 seconds, then I get about 5-10 seconds of gaming before it repeats this constantly. Even if I go to the Steam menu in game it still freezes up. Tried Contractors and it does the same thing. I could play this game for well over an hour before without a single issue. I had the benchmarking display up and it all showed good numbers and a solid connection, so I don't believe it's anything to do with that. Bitrate was 150Mbps, Latency was 40ms, Framerate 89fps and all the other speeds were under 10ms.

Checked my temperatures and my 3060Ti FE doesn't go above 65.6°C and my 5600X CPU doesn't go above 63.9°C. My GPU is updated to the latest drivers as are my chipsets etc.

What's also annoying is that I can't get Airlink to pair, despite getting it to pair in the past and Meta can't figure that out, so I have no alternative. I remember it not being very good anyway.

Is this a Virtual Desktop problem or something to do with the recent Quest 2 updates? I've been tempted to get a Quest 3, but if I can't do PCVR then there's no point.

i think its on the steam side but do not care to mess around enough to try any more at the moment. time is precious and i hate wasting it on VR.

Aye, I'm not happy about how much time I've wasted on this and also trying to get that Air Link working. It really shouldn't be this hard! lol

I have a different issue which seems to be related to this update. Starting yesterday I could not run my two steam VR Sims (Dirt Rally 2 and AC) any more (over the last month including Friday they worked just fine). Reason is that when I select to play the sims in VR mode (starting from the steam library), I'm not in the sim but there is an obviously steam VR specific curved desktop instead (which I have never seen before). And I can`t manipulate that because I have no game controllers and - as i found out - steam VR cant process mouse or keyboard inputs. So, that was the end of the road.

After wasting hours and hours on research and reinstalling steam vr and steam and getting pretty desperate, by mere chance I found out that in oder to make it work, you have to swich to "BPM Mode" first (which I have also never used before) and then enter the sim with VR option from there...then it will work in 3 out of 4 cases. As Monty Python said: "what a waste of human life". Is there a way to go back to the prior version (like with the NVIDIA drivers) which didn't give me any trouble at all?

What is BPM mode?

SteamVR killed my Resident Evil VR Mods. With OpenVR/SteamVR i have around 400m/s latency and like 18 fps.

If i switch to OpenXR mode i have 180 FPS... wtf

For anyone curious, it appears that the beta has this option, you'll need to opt-in, but it's under:

Steamvr settings -> Dashboard -> Bottom Option

Here's a link to a picture:

Hope this helps

Just to update my issue, as noted in another thread I've managed to get things working great again. I'm not 100% what fixed it because I changed a few things, but I suspect it was my antivirus, despite it not causing a problem in the past. Perhaps an update with either SteamVR or the Antivirus changed things. I'm going to test it tonight with the antivirus back on and see if it freezes up again so that I know for sure. Happy days again! lol

Every update this crap happens! I can't play Alyx again. Hey steam what did you do go into buisness with asus? We pay for games and you idiots could care less about the customer!

Does Anyone Know a good Alternative to Substitute Steam VR? I found an OpenVR but the one i came across is Outdated and they do have a Discord.. but so far no one answered my question on an Updated version.

I've just remembered, I also changed the Low Latency Mode setting to "Ultra" in the Nvidia Control Panel, Manage 3D settings.
