Steam Link App Quest 3- can't start without wifi
I know, I know, its a wifi streaming app, but quest 3 still has the driver in place for ethernet by USB C, virtual desktop can use this, but steam link gets greyed out in the app library unable to launch with wifi disabled (and using ethernet)

leaving wifi connected and ethernet plugged in will only use the wifi, disabling wifi while in steam link will not cut out, instead use ethernet, however its poor and can't make any more use of the bitrate compared to the wifi you were initially connected to.

why you want to ethernet, simply being able to use a hub with charge and wired ethernet connection, not needing any fancy routers and getting the absolute best network performance while maintaining full charge with no heavy battery on your head.

I know not many people are even aware of ethernet working ( as it doesn't on quest 2 ) but it serves a purpose for those wanting to use it.

like said, virtual desktop can launch and use ethernet, even though its not specifically a supported feature, so long as it has an internet/ network connection, it doesn't care.

steam link app simply wont let you launch without wifi being enabled, stopping its use.

not sure if this is a meta problem or app problem, would be nice to use ethernet! this allows people with any router (2.4ghz/5ghz) to still max the bitrate and have lowest network latency and maximum stability.

thanks :)

While we do not support this, and Meta may remove the RTL8153 driver without notice, we fixed a bug in the most recent Steam Link Beta that allows you to actually proceed. By pinning Steam Link to your tray, launching it, clicking the "Wifi" button when trying to connect, disabling wifi, then once you are moved to 3D, you need to summon the system menu and bring up the wifi menu. Just bringing this up seems to be enough to bypass and get into game.

This mode is not supported. This will only work with a few USB dongles (and we cannot recommend any). Valve or Meta may remove support without notice. This work around does not work on Quest 2 or Quest Pro.

Turn off mobile data on your phone and turn on internet sharing, then connect your VR helmet and computer to the phone's sharing.

This way I can play games that do not require internet.

But in this case, the images of the games will not appear on the wall panel in the Steam house. When you point your pointer at them, you will see their names. Don't worry, it still works.
