Anybody experience with Pimax 8K plus?
Is there any one using the Pimax 8K plus? (this one)[store.pimaxvr.com]

I know it is upscaling from 1440 but still it looks very promising. This headset in combination with the Valve controllers and base stations seems to be a perfect combo. Unfortunately there is no local store I can check and would really love to know how this HMD is holding and what to expect from the Pitool.

same, some games are not compatible though. The technology behind this is interesting though. you have your steamVR ss and also pimax technology that upscales.

As --ranXerox-- said, there are reported issues with some title compatibility issues. This is not something Valve can fix either as the Pimax has it's own driver software.

Personally, I have a list of reasons why I don't think the Pimax is a good choice "at this time" but I think there is potential in the future for them.

I've got the 5k+ and I love it!
The 8k+ just came out and has some good reviews. It actually won "Digital Trends Top Tech of CES 2020 Award", for whatever that's worth, lol!

Pimax Reddit: https://www.reddit.com/r/Pimax/
Pimax Forums: https://community.openmr.ai/

With just a tiny bit of digging, you'll find reviews and videos, including comparisons to the Index.
Note that you need a beefy computer...

1. I've got a Pimax 5k XR and never had compatibility issues with any game.
2. The Pimax 8K X won the Digital Trends award for AR/VR tech of CES 2020.

Thanks for the replies! Very helpful

The compatibility issues for some games would only be a small problem if you compare it to would you get. (FOV 200/higher resolution/crisp clear image/optional eye tracking) But the impressions I have been reading and watching are mostly with preproduction model made by professional reviewers. I would very much appreciate to know what a “normal” user is thinking about the product. I will have a look at the video and forums.

I have been thinking about the 8k X but the price and lower refresh rate is holding me back. As for my specs, I have an AMD 3800x with RTX2080 Ti so that should be fine. (although I still doubt that it will be enough for the 8k X)
