How much play space do you have?
I am curious how much floor space people find they need for VR. I am getting ready to set up my first room scale vr system and can't decide whether there is enough space in my den where the pc is, or if I should be looking into extension cables to set up the system in the neighboring room that has more space.

The space beside my computer, once I clear furniture away will give me about 8ft x 10ft of open floor with walls on 3 sides.

If you have pics of your VR space I would love to see them!

3x3 meters, which still can feel limiting in room-scale titles, but nowadays more games rely on artificial locomotion for exploration so I'm usually just fine 🤔 I'm using my largest room for this. Then I'm 190cm with long arms so that limits how close to the edge I can get before smashing stuff 😅

3x3 with extension cables. hanging from the ceilings with elastic and retractable dog leash (trust me sounds dumb but it works really well) i could go bigger but ive got a 2ft buffer zone around play space, with one wall being another meter away where the computer sits on a stand

how do you show pictures on steam?

I've got a 1.7m x 2.1m, near the minimum spec for roomscale (1.5m x 2.0m). Developers chasing the oculus's stand-and-face-front market have lead most games to offer snap turn and locomotion options such that I don't have to walk, or even turn. This is great for not stepping on the cable, which can break if abused and costs $100.

I had to remove or cover reflective surfaces from the walls.

The one title I feel I missed out on due to not enough safety room is Gorn.

I barely have a 3ft by 3ft standing space.

1mx1m, or for those of you who are truly free, 3ftx3ft. I could say I have a larger setup, but I'm generally estimating. I use Oculus, so I can't set up a perfect square and my safe zone looks like curtains the Phantom of the Opera would hide in.
It's really neat how much movement you can have and get away with in a small space in VR, however there is something that is available called "Sitting Standing/Stationary setup". If you run into issues with finalizing room setup because your safe space or guardian isn't big enough, set up with this method to bypass that jazz and just be extra careful. You might want to pray before each VR session if you're going safe-zone-free, though.
