Tundra trackers work with both types of base stations: base station 1.0 (your link), and base station 2.0. source:

Ok thanks, but does the 2.0 track better than the 1.0?

A 2.0 base station sweeps the room 100 times per second, while a pair of 1.0's do it 60 times per second. I've never heard this results in noticeably better tracking, but in theory it could.

The evolution to 2.0 accomplished 2 major goals, neither of which was tracking precision in any marketing materials I saw:
1) the number of laser diodes and motors in each base station was cut from 2 to 1, reducing manufacturing costs. Pure genius how they did this. This also allowed for a higher FOV off each 2.0 base station.
2) whereas the 1.0 base stations sweep a steady beam of light, 2.0 base stations replace the steady-on laser with one that blinks on and off so fast that during the time is it hitting a single receptor it can flash on and off several times, and this allows the beams to encode their station ID in binary to each and every receptor. This gives two minor benefits:
a) you can put up a lot more than just two 2.0 base stations if you want
b) The base stations can all be sweeping at the same time, unlike the 1.0's which need to communicate with each other so they can alternate sweeps. Initial setup is therefore slightly simplified for the 2.0's, just make sure they are not on the same channel.

The only downside of 2.0 base stations is lack of retro-compatibility. OG VIVE HMD's and their black wands don't have the beam-decoding capability, so 2.0 base stations don't work with them. 2.0 base stations only work with the newer VIVE Pro HMD's, and their blue pro wands, and Valve index, knuckles, cosmos elite. The 1.0 base stations work with everything.

Ok thanks but i think ill just buy the 1.0's on amazon since they ship sooner than buying them from valve
