Is VR Dead?
I haven't really seen any good games coming out for VR recently, the whole media seems to of dropped all influence on it, is VR already considered dead? why havent any really good games come out for VR that can give players a experience without a over priced bill.

If you're into RPG, and really liked skyrim, or fallout 4, then I can recommend you like them again in VR as that be new experience to you. BUT! Please mod them you really want to mod them to make the VR experience good, you see why if you play it default compare to heavily modded game. Warning you need at least 50GB+ ~ 200GB of storeage for heavy amount of mods as it as like I said this will make your experience good, it be breathing a whole new game, and experience will never be the same wanting more. Just get wabbajack it do 99% of the work for you, just install the things it need you to get, and it will handle the work for you without you doing anything really not kidding, only 1% work you need to do is just change few in-game settings it need you to do, and that it. [/quote]

yeah i would really love to try skyrim or fallout 4 with vr, currently hopening Fallout 76 can give players a option for VR, as i own Fallout 76 already and really feel like my VR helm just doesn't get any proper use.

when VR released in 2019 i was extremely excited, looked into alot of haptic gears one of the best games i did try was deadly hunters, id say over all i have had less then 10 hours of VR play time in 3 years.

ATM for state of VR prices are not cheap getting full VR experience like touch, and so on, as the lowest price that have good starting experience is Quest 2 & Pico 3 Which quest 3 and pico 4 gonna release soon but they're not too much of an upgrade over the last. For haptic gear, like vest, gloves, and stuff yeah pretty penny until more affordable things happen, which trying to cut things back in weight, and size of things, but it getting there.

Check guy channel he does news on VR, and give insight on somethings.

i was extremely lucky to get my vr set just before 2019 i got it all on clearance , two controlers and a windows based headset, on major price drop, at the time i had looked into the haptic vr vest, but you can actually simulate the thing games using some cheap tens units, don't recommend doing this unless you know what your doing you can cause muscle damange. but it is a very neat thing to look into. also several audio vibrating devices can also be used.

i don't know if they still make VORTX but is also worth checking out, i don't use mine often because my computer is on a poor amp circiut and will blow it out if to many electronics are on it at once. vortx is a mini fan/heater, the heater will use alot of amps when it turns on an off.

its been 3 almost 4 years, and the price of the games and the industry itself seems to be stagnant due to the high cost they tried to place upon the consumer, i would love to see VR continue to take off, but that requires the industry to produce cheaper vr head sets and give games away to promote the sale of hardware to the players.

All I can say is that it will take time for VR to boom, as it did get boom for entry VR it just not at the state where a lot of consumers will keep using VR, or jump to it when most good games are not made for VR such as elder ring, god of war, or whatever game that fancy them.

There are some good VR games like Half Life Alyx, bone works / labs, there blade & sorcery, Karnage Chronicles, or Pavlov, as you get the point, but market place is still saturated with too many low end VR games, and asset flips, so it takes bit of work to dig through it to find stuff.

The only other problem is that most games don't make use of most haptic products besides the controller so it a hit, or miss to finding games that will support body haptic gear.
currently one of the funnest games ive played is Chivalry 2 it has alot of potential for VR mod, i don't often buy games but really wanted to buy that game , i didn't but if it had VR i think i might of. The other side of that is newish games should be working on VR platforming there is a whole world of untapped potential in VR including VR fitness and other haptic uses for users that VR can produce even without a headset.

I wish steam would promote a VR game give away to give those of us with headsets a chance to enjoy them, and to promote the sale of headsets to keep VR alive.

It's a fun game, played it quite a bit with friends.

But yeah it be nice if there some really good free to play games to help people get into it more, but atm it's really hard to find amazing free to play games, there handful of good / decent games, but still not many compare to amount of low end VR games.

Like if you have Half life 2 already, there VR mod support for it right now on Steam.

VR Chat pretty decent, there also The lab short neat game, there also Super Raft Boat VR which is not bad, but could be better, but yeah it just need you to dig for the stuff like I said. Like if Steam gave out Half life alex that be strong entry on VR games right there because Valve and handful of other companines put effort into VR compare to most.

Example if into Reto gaming you can play retro games via VR which is fun, look up EmuVR which is free btw, it uses retroarch 1.7.5 to run the things you need. Also this support netplay so can play with others.

This one is neat emulator that makes your NES games more neat.

VR goes through cycles where it is hyped to high heaven, then cycles where it is an almost unheard of niche (to the point where the general public doesn't even know it exists). It's been this way since the 90's.

This is the longest span of it being hyped to high heaven so far, but it does seem to be declining (especially since the metaverse collapsed). It'll never "die" though, especially with it getting as entrenched as it is.

it would be great to get a RPG style VR game, but really i don't see anything that isn't 20 dollars , and most seem pretty bad, i did try one back in the day taht was cool, but it got very tireing fireing the bow

It hurts me to recommend skyrim but you should try it. The base version is prettymuch garbage but with all of the VR enhancement mods like VRIK and HIGGS it is amazing.

It's what VR could be if people started releasing actual games for it instead of tech demos, rythm games and single mechanic games.

For example instead of opening a menu and looking at your map to navigate you open a scroll case that's tied to your belt, pull out the map, look at the static map, look for landmarks on it and around you to figure out where you are and then go from there. As close to immersion as you're ever going to get.

well i paid alot of my vr head set, lol 140 bucks i am not dishing out 40 dollars for cheesy games that don't deliver or make me vomit, i played R.E biohazard, and about puked my guts out in the first 10 minutes

was also into warFrame with a experimental VR driver and it was great until i spun around fighting something and again, almost puked from the vertigo

keep in mind warframe is not a Vr game, the experimental driver turned it into one

Maybe VR just isn't for you
Vr is dead.

I am dead and buried.

And the creator of the topic is crazy.

If you bought (acer) goggles for $140 that pretend to be a vr set, and you request AAA vr games for free, I'm sure any honest doctor will tell you that your head is damaged.

I'll try to explain it to you so that you understand.

Imagine that you are buying an expensive car, oh sorry, cheap car, ...such for children on batteries.
And then you go to a gas station and demand free refueling, not the usual, but the most expensive fuel.

If you answer, I will ignore you, I've done one good deed by leading you out of error, it's more than I should have.

$140 is a relatively tiny amount to spend on a VR headset, it's an expensive hobby and if you don't have the money for it then VR might not be for you in it's current state.

No... VR is anything but dead. It has been very slow this last year but once the PS5 brings out their new VR headset and titles it will start booming again. I suspect production for PC VR gaming to pick up as well. Hopefully some of those titles will transfer over to PC eventually.... but I don't believe it's dying. Theres a high demand for crappy oculus quests 2 right now unfortunately and I do believe that has hurt the VR market but there are still a ton of companies making VR headsets so the demands must still be very high. We are just waiting on more titles.

One thing I have seen though is peoples starting threads hoping to get hundreds of replies with bait questions they already know the answer.
