days since the last person asked if VR is dead
yeah i would really love to try skyrim or fallout 4 with vr, currently hopening Fallout 76 can give players a option for VR, as i own Fallout 76 already and really feel like my VR helm just doesn't get any proper use.
when VR released in 2019 i was extremely excited, looked into alot of haptic gears one of the best games i did try was deadly hunters, id say over all i have had less then 10 hours of VR play time in 3 years.
Check guy channel he does news on VR, and give insight on somethings.

i don't know if they still make VORTX but is also worth checking out, i don't use mine often because my computer is on a poor amp circiut and will blow it out if to many electronics are on it at once. vortx is a mini fan/heater, the heater will use alot of amps when it turns on an off.
its been 3 almost 4 years, and the price of the games and the industry itself seems to be stagnant due to the high cost they tried to place upon the consumer, i would love to see VR continue to take off, but that requires the industry to produce cheaper vr head sets and give games away to promote the sale of hardware to the players.
There are some good VR games like Half Life Alyx, bone works / labs, there blade & sorcery, Karnage Chronicles, or Pavlov, as you get the point, but market place is still saturated with too many low end VR games, and asset flips, so it takes bit of work to dig through it to find stuff.
The only other problem is that most games don't make use of most haptic products besides the controller so it a hit, or miss to finding games that will support body haptic gear.
I wish steam would promote a VR game give away to give those of us with headsets a chance to enjoy them, and to promote the sale of headsets to keep VR alive.
But yeah it be nice if there some really good free to play games to help people get into it more, but atm it's really hard to find amazing free to play games, there handful of good / decent games, but still not many compare to amount of low end VR games.

Like if you have Half life 2 already, there VR mod support for it right now on Steam.

VR Chat pretty decent, there also The lab short neat game, there also Super Raft Boat VR which is not bad, but could be better, but yeah it just need you to dig for the stuff like I said. Like if Steam gave out Half life alex that be strong entry on VR games right there because Valve and handful of other companines put effort into VR compare to most.
Example if into Reto gaming you can play retro games via VR which is fun, look up EmuVR which is free btw, it uses retroarch 1.7.5 to run the things you need. Also this support netplay so can play with others.

VR goes through cycles where it is hyped to high heaven, then cycles where it is an almost unheard of niche (to the point where the general public doesn't even know it exists). It's been this way since the 90's.
This is the longest span of it being hyped to high heaven so far, but it does seem to be declining (especially since the metaverse collapsed). It'll never "die" though, especially with it getting as entrenched as it is.
It hurts me to recommend skyrim but you should try it. The base version is prettymuch garbage but with all of the VR enhancement mods like VRIK and HIGGS it is amazing.
It's what VR could be if people started releasing actual games for it instead of tech demos, rythm games and single mechanic games.
For example instead of opening a menu and looking at your map to navigate you open a scroll case that's tied to your belt, pull out the map, look at the static map, look for landmarks on it and around you to figure out where you are and then go from there. As close to immersion as you're ever going to get.
Maybe VR just isn't for you
I am dead and buried.
And the creator of the topic is crazy.
If you bought (acer) goggles for $140 that pretend to be a vr set, and you request AAA vr games for free, I'm sure any honest doctor will tell you that your head is damaged.
I'll try to explain it to you so that you understand.
Imagine that you are buying an expensive car, oh sorry, cheap car, ...such for children on batteries.
And then you go to a gas station and demand free refueling, not the usual, but the most expensive fuel.
If you answer, I will ignore you, I've done one good deed by leading you out of error, it's more than I should have.
$140 is a relatively tiny amount to spend on a VR headset, it's an expensive hobby and if you don't have the money for it then VR might not be for you in it's current state.
One thing I have seen though is peoples starting threads hoping to get hundreds of replies with bait questions they already know the answer.
