Valve Index And Controllers
Hello steam support valued my review on the index and it’s controllers as a suggestion or an idea. So here i am posting it treat this as a review.

I’ve had the index for more than a year now. and have nothing but problems with it. I’ve probably done over 8 RMA (return merchandise authorization) in its lifetime. Mind you you only get this privilege for a year. Their process in order to take back The broken item is something that I feel is pick and choose. One time I finish the whole process in a day other times it’s took about a week, i’m probably on a list of names you don’t like because of how many times I’ve had to RMA my stuff. It’s weird to the fact that they probably have my name on the list and I’m sure they have many others. Why do you have this list? If you bought the full kit like me it’s $1000 you expect it to work because of how much it is you should also be saying that I don’t have to worry about this because its hopefully a good product.

The controllers are probably the most well-known and notorious for breaking, but are also one of the greatest controllers out there. People use these controllers with other headsets. They provide finger tracking and a more realistic view to vr. The valve index controllers are very touch and go with me half the time they’re not working the other half the time they are. The most occurring problem that I’ve had with these controllers is the thumb stick not working as you put your thumb on the thumb stick it’s supposed to put your finger down in a game that you’re playing. for me that’s never really worked for any of my controllers. Instead of explaining all my problems, I am going to make a list.

*Stick drift
*Not turning on
*Thumb stick, not working
*Finger tracking not working
*Not able to be tracked by base stations
*Extremely fragile
*Flashing Red Light

I have gotten controllers sent back to me that have been refurbished. At one point I even asked for refurbished controllers because that means that they fix the problem. But in that case, that did not mean that. All of the controllers that I’ve gotten back have had the thumbs stick problem. The only ones that worked were my original ones and even after a few months of owning them they got the same issue.

The valve index is honestly one of the greatest headsets. This headset for me has worked nicely, but still has its problems. The speakers the FOV it’s all the greatest part about this headset. The cable is the shaky part but as long as you’re not putting it on a pulley system, you’ll be ok. My index I have right now has many problems but it’s still working good. My left speaker is cutting in and out there’s little sparkles throughout my headset due to the cable and sometimes my lights on the front of the headset flash red. This may sound really bad but regardless of that stuff this headset is really good. I think aftermarket necessities are extremely important for the life of this headset. When ordering an index, you should also get a fan because the headset will heat up.

I guess to sum this all up after sounding like a Karen. Is the valve index is worth it The controllers are not really that great. They need a lot of work to them and this is something that they either refuse to do or just completely given up on the controller design. But if you like dealing with support teams, going through RMA process every couple of months, then yes the controllers are for you. If your not an active VR player, I would say the controllers are also for you. Just put on that safety strap and clean them with that microfiber towel. As said by a support team member.

Valve support told you to post here to get rid of you nicely. They do not take suggestions, they only do account and billing issues.

VR has its own section, with its own suggestions and ideas area (and a bunch of other sections).
