Unable to select download location
It automatically downloads steamvr to my platter drive instead of my ssd. How can I fix this?

You can set the location of your Steam Library in Steam Settings, Downloads, Steam Library Folders.

I have three locations. Main C ssd, D ssd, and a platter drive as E. They all have a steam app directory. When I install steamvr, it gives me no option to change location and automatically installs it to the E drive. D is selected as the default drive in the settings. The steam settings will not let me temporarily remove the E directory because it has games installed in it.

I just found it odd as it is the only thing I have ever installed on steam that didn't allow me to select where to install it.

I'll have to physically disconnect the drive to get around it. Not really complaint worth, but it is a pain in my case because of the layout of my computer and the drive is in a motherboard tray.

:: Now I notice under the steamvr properties, local files tab, it is installed on the c drive. But I have the same steamvr directory on my e drive, but not on D.

christen, I have the same problem. I am using the Big Picture / VR interface while wearing the headset, and I don't see an option to select a location when I download any of my VR apps.

VR apps and games give you an option when you select download. I was specifically only talking about the streamVR application.

Seems to still be an issue. Wanted to move SteamVR onto my SSD drive but I have no option to change the location. I also set the SSD download folder to be the 'default' but still doesn't change its location.

Same issue. I'd appreciate a fix, or workaround, for this.

yeah I like my games on my large mechanical drive, but I want my VR games and SteamVR to be on my SSD. Why is there no option?

Having the same issue, no way I can clear 5GB on my SSD. Why can't I select the location on install like every other games?

4 years later...
This doesn't solve the issue. SteamVR can only be downloaded to the C:
