IF it's done right, VR is great. Unfortunately there are so many different options that all provide entirely different approaches to different types of games that all require different amounts of money to afford to implement (none of them cheap, just different levels of expensive) that developers are struggling just to create experiences that work with even one piece of hardware, nevermind being inclusive to all the different options that are still stumbling out of the starting gate.

Because of the limitation of the userbase that can afford to get the hardware needed to experience a VR game how it should be experienced, developers are forced to cut down their game content drastically and only cover simple demos of the VR hardware. A full-content game requires a level of investment that the current userbase just can't support.

I agree it would be nice to have a show/hide VR checkbox in the Customize section with all the other checkboxes to show/hide software, early access and whatnot. Makes sense to me.
