No display from headset
So, everything has been delivered everything is setup, all lights are green and a go, but I have no visuals from headset, it's not showing as a 2nd monitor (if it should, wasn't sure) the light on the headset is green, got audio coming through, but nothing on screen.

Tried all 3 different DP ports, when I switch port monitor continually works but no vive headset, got 1 eye working when I disconnected monitor completely but can't even repeat that since.

Should I use a dvi and the mini HDMI or should I be able to use dvi for both?

Using windows 10, Nvidia GTX 970, 3 DP ports, 1 mini HDMI port.

Please help,

Thank you in advance,

Neil

I just wanted to chime in that I am experiencing the same issue and have been unable to find a solution. I'm using HDMI and a GTX 980. Green light is on and Steam VR says all peripherals are green but no video is displayed.

If I select "Display Mirror" all it shows is a white screen.

Not sure if you've found this resource so here is the SteamVR Troubleshooting Page

Hope that helps

I'm seeing the same issue. Everything is green and ready, but the headset will not display anything. Looks like the hmd displays are off. Selecting "Display Mirror" shows the SteamVR UI on my main monitor and I can see that tracking is working. I tried multiple HDMI cables and bypassing the link box altogether. Disabling "Direct Mode" lets my computer detect the Vive display, but it still won't display anything.

Windows 7 64bit, gtx 980Ti

I have the exact same symptoms, except on Windows 10.

I should add that out of desperation I tried setting everything up on a macbook (lol) that's running windows 8.1. I was actually able to get the vive to duplicate my desktop, so I know that the hmd display is not dead. Very strange.

I also tested my hdmi port on my 980ti with 2 different monitors and verified that it's working fine. Video card drivers are up to date.

I am going to try this tonight. If it works, it's pretty indicative I believe that the issue is caused by either software, or USB.

If it doesn't work, I am gonna try the entire setup on another native windows machine.

Currently chasing HTC for more information too.

So, finally got it working.

Using the mini HDMI to HDMI fixed the issue.

Not sure if it'll help with all above but has worked for me.

Did you use the mini-displayport connector on the link box, or did you plug a HDMI cable into the link box, then mini-HDMI into your GPU?

I fixed this with a Mini-DP to DP cable - I don't know if it'll work for you, but it's worth a shot.

Same issue here. My vive only works with direct mode, without this it cannot be detected. When it's detected it gets the white light but with no image on the Vive.
The Display Mirror (Headset Mirror) works fine and can track the device, but I cannot see any image.
I tried with HDMI to HDMI, Mini-Display to HDMI and HDMI to Mini-Display.
Nothing works.

Same here. I tried every combination of cables possible. Even tried multiple computers. I've given up.

Try Mini-DisplayPort to DisplayPort, if your GPU has the connector.

I tried that and got it to work for about 30 seconds before it blacked out again. I made sure all the cables are secure in the headset and the link box. I have a feeling the main cable is defective.

If you have a ton of USB devices plugged, in, strip it to the bare minimum and reboot and see if that fixes it. The vive seems to use a high number of USB resources.

I'm getting this problem too.

HMD works fine (tried it on friend's PC), but on my PC, there is no image. I tried using a DVI-HDMI adapter, and had no luck, so I've ordered a DisplayPort to mini-DisplayPort cable as a last attempt at getting it to work.
