Floor Re-Calibration
Can we get one in settings, like the quick calibrate function in the developer menu, but to only adjust the floor calibration and retain the previous chaperone bounds and play area.

The VR floor becoming randomly too high or low is now my biggest problem.

My current solution is to place the headset and controllers in the center of my play area and use Reboot the Vive Headset under devices. If this doesn't work after a few tries I'm running room setup again. It's very annoying to load up a game and have to quit to do all of this.

I'd also like to know why this is happening.

I don't feel that I have this issue as often anymore, I've been running the beta versions of SteamVR for a while now.

When it does happen though, I rely on this great tool produced by a member of the community:
https://www.reddit.com/r/Vive/comments/4scv70/floorfix_tool_for_recalibrating_the_floor_level/

There's also a thread about the floor fix application and it's potential false positive for virus/trojan:
https://www.reddit.com/r/Vive/comments/4sszst/psa_floorfix_now_classified_as_a_trojan_by/

Virus Total came back clean when I checked it, you can make the choice to run it or not.

With all that said, it would still be nice to have an official response on this issue though.

Would be really nice to be able to adjust the play area manually without running the room setup wizard.

(I would love to stretch out my play area a few more centimetres to ensure it uses my entire room.)

Use this handy tool to fix floor level on the fly:

http://www.kegetys.fi/floorfix-tool-for-re-calibrating-the-floor-level-in-steamvr/

Can be run while in-game from SteamVR.

I wonder why do not Valve fix this floor bug? This floor shift happens on every play session. Does not matter if Vive is hooked to usb2 or usb3 port either..

FYI I read about this tool on reddit and people said it has memory leak issues and causes crashes etc. Dunno

To be honest I haven't really had such problems with it myself.

I know, I've been stuck with this for a couple of months now. A constantly tilted floor with seemingly no fix.

Perhaps we should take to r/vive?

I have a simialr issue and I found I did not position my base station correctly like 30-45 ° angle down. After I re-arranged the base station placement, now it did fix my problem.
RED-FROG 1 DIC 2016 a las 23:03
One of my base stations is roughly 45 down but the other is sitting 90°, little lower than the other on a shelf. That works.
Tilted floor should be fixed by doing the setup again or by adjusting the placement. Make sure the bottom line of the box is lining up in paralell with the floor, not rotated around.

OpenVR-AdvancedSettings (search for the GitHub repo) has a great Floor Fix mechanic that works well for me

+1 for advancedsettings! I love that program! I was constantly having the floor go too far up or down and now I can just reset it without having to go through roomsetup. Awesome. Plus it does alot of other useful things too.

This thread is almost a year old and we still don't have fix for it!

It seems bizarre that base stations are bolted to floor and ceiling and still the room keeps creeping off.

Is this software issue or issue with lighthouse base station developing a fault in the rotor which causes drift?

How do I tell? It's always been like this and the tracking works fine when using the system.

ProTip: Install the "OpenVR-AdvancedSettings" dashboard overlay by matzman666.

There's floor fix button in there. One controller on the floor, hit fix and its done instantly - right from the dashboard - without restarting. Other useful stuff in there too... DL and full info on github, linked below. I highly recommend it for floor fixing and other things!

I still use advancedopenvr now and yes it still happens. And it's a software bug. I've noticed it can be fine starting out and when u play a game and come back to steam vr home or whatever, it's off.
