If you bring up the system menu(I don't know how you'd get to it with a DK2, though), there'll be an option in the settings to reset the sitting position.
dude im using an oculus quest 1 and although it has that option it dosent do anything for me. whenever i hold down my oculus button to reset position the little loading circle appears for a second but it dosent reset anything and im still facing the same direction. there is also an option in my oculus settings to reset postion but that also dosent reset anything. those options never work for me.
my steam vr menu dose not have this option. is this only for vive or rift? im on quest.
steamvr vr menu ---------> circular button for resetting standing position
Some games use the room setup default forward orientation, and some dynamically adjust forward to wherever you're pointing the headset when they load. Flipping the room setup won't break the games that work if they work because they ignore the room default forward.
this is it. the arrow on my floor pointed away from my monitor after my initial setup. i was playing some stationary games in surround sound so this got annoying. yes, tools like OVR advanced let you turn the room 180 but that's a band-aid.
when doing the room setup, on the last part when it has you fine tune your "room scale" play area, you can turn it 180 degrees. if you read the setup, they actually say they "face you away" from your monitor for safety. that's the whole reason they have you look at the monitor. you could also look the opposite direction of the monitor for the initial click they have you do. doesn't matter, same result.
other games aren't "room scale" and when the game loads, your position is based on your HMD position at that time. most games have a bind for "reset position" and i believe steamvr has a bind itself for this. very typical of sim and stationary games.
you'll learn which games are which, and most room scale games say so on the store page.
i wish they fixed the annoying issue where it forgets your room setup constantly.
