SteamVR

Can't detect headset after last update
My PICO NEO 3 worked straight for 2 days (just brought). yes it have sometime lost connect etc. but after restart either PC or headset it will work.

But not since last update. the PICO link perfectly connected to headset. but only Steamvr that always show error 108 Steamvr can't detect headset. which I tried by best as below.
1) as usual restart headset, pc, reconnect cable, restart steamvr
2) Reinstall Steamvr
3) Change to Beta version
4) Tried all the trouble shooting in link below
https://help.steampowered.com/en/wizard/HelpWithGameIssue/?appid=250820&issueid=374&nodeid=3&return_nodeid=71

Not all of that work. any idea?

You tried run Steam, or Steam vr as administrator?

Have you tried switch Steam to beta?

Any mods for Steam VR?

OP, are you on an AMD system?

Sorry for late reply. work and stuffs.
1) yes I tried changed to Steam VR Beta
2) yes I tried changed to run steamvr as administrator
3) no mods

4) I'm using Intel, more specifically Laptop MSI RTX3060 intel core I7, I brought together with VR set (only week old) so should not be a problem, right?
still not working atm.

The reason why I asked about AMD is that people reported their headsets having connection issues with AMD 5000 series systems. And the fix was by installing a PCI-E x1 usb hub.

Steam VR code 108 is a connection issue. If you were on a PC, I would suggest the above solution, but since it'a a laptop, I'm unsure if a powered external usb hub would solve the issue.

Sorry I'm a bit irritated with my reply. it felt like I just throw my hard earned saving away on this headset and now it working for only 2 days.

I will try something else then. thank you.

I had this problem earlier today. I completely uninstalled SteamVR meaning I uninstalled, then shut down Steam, then deleted the folder in AppSettings (250820), then deleted steamvr.vrsettings and default file if it exists in SteamLibrary\Config. Reboot then reinstall. Hope it works for you.

Is the problem that "steam vr" does not see the headset, is it still relevant?
absinth.god Aug 24, 2022 @ 4:01pm
I'm having same problem with pico neo link 3!! nothing seems to affect the simple fact that the steam vr doesn't think the hmd is plugged in, i have a hp reverb g1 that doesn't have this issue
running amd ryzen 9 3900x, rtx 2080ti, 32gb ram at 3600mhz

Thanks, I did that and worked for 1 day. but today got the same issue, tried again and now it isn't work.
After steamvr "detected" the headset, the "Unexpected Steamvr Error" "SteamVR has encountered a critical error"
And the options I can choose is either Restart SteamVR or Quit SteamVR

After restart SteamVR
1. SteamVR Blocked "pico" and "Gamepad support" in manage add-ons
2. Unblock and restart SteamVR
3. start the Critical Error loops again.

That's a bummer. Two other things I observed that might apply to your headset:

1: SteamVR is installed on a different drive than "C"? (It's a hooking issue) -Gotta be installed on C.
2: Exit Steam, execute VR headset vendor's program (PicoLink?), and make sure headset is active. Restart Steam. Steam detects headsets at startup.

Thanks for follow up my case.
1) yes the steamvr installed in drive C: (same place with windows)
2) yes it is PicoLink, and I follow your instruction and no it is not detect the headset

Have you tried Steam VR beta, or stable build?

Have tried running picolink software with administration?

Have tried reinstalling picolink software?
skru™ Aug 28, 2022 @ 8:31am
Have you tried deleting the device in device manager then open Pico Link and click check for hardware changes in device manager after that. Not sure if you tried that yet or not but that would I would be doing at this point. I'm stumped at this point. Double checked the connections? Anything in the event viewer/applications?

My Index has been doing that "Headset not detected" bit for awhile now. I've tried literally everything you can think of. Resetting the headset, trying different USB ports, update drivers, "verify integrity of local files", run as admin, tried different GPUs, tried power cycling the Index AC adapter, tried power cycling the base stations, tried on a completely different PC, etc...

I hooked up my Pimax headset and no issues whatsoever with that... so the issue is with the Index headset itself. I opened a support ticket with Steam and explained everything I tried. They replied basically telling me to re-try everything(made me wonder if they even read what I wrote). For the heck of it, yes I did try again... but still no luck.

If anyone is wondering, these are the specs on the 2 PC's I have tried:

PC1: 5950X, 3090 SLI, 128GB Memory, 2TB gen4 Nvme(Windows drive), 4TB Gen3 Nvme(Steam drive)

PC2: 12900K, 3090, 64GB Memory, 1TB Gen4 Nvme(Windows drive), 2TB Gen3 Nvme(Steam drive)

I also have 4 2.0 Base Stations setup in each corner of the room and no obstructions whatsoever.

My ticket is still open and they have not replied to me in 2 days now!
