Steam VR Not Launching - No error messages.
I have recently updated my machine to a rtx3060 and decided to give pcvr another go using my quest 2. However, while initially I was able to get steam VR to launch, after trying to tinker with OVR toolkit (which seemed to be having some issues itself) steam VR stopped launching. I have tried verifying my files and removing and reinstalling it and it still will not lauch

When I do try to launch it, nothing happens. Steam states that it is launching for a moment, and then drops back to launch without bringing up a starting application dialogue or anything.

Didn't know there was one. I shall give it a try.

Yeah that didn't work. Funny thing is, If I run VRStartup from c:/program files (x86)/.../steamvr/bin/win64/vrstartup.exe it runs fine.

if i launch it that way though i get a vrclient shared lib not found 102 error

A missing shared lib means that some .dll can't be found, and this will prevent a program from running. It sounds like your tinkering may have changed some configuration so that SteamVR is looking for a file that maybe doesn't exist.

Open a support ticket and include these things:
- vrserver and vrcompositor logs from program files (x86)/steam/logs
- The output of vrpathreg.exe in SteamVR/bin/win64 (should be aboout 5-10 lines long)

There's not a way to 'tag' me in your support ticket, so just reply here when it's uploaded and I'll go find it.

are you running on win 11? thats kid of where I'm to with steam support right now and it seems to be some kind of compatability issue. I've heard rumblings of a work-around from people outside of steam but I've yet to actually get anything solid. I'll try and update if I hear anything

Okay. So I have fixed this issue. this may not help you, but for me this was down to an issue with a broken c++ redistributable: What I did was :
1. Open add/remove programs.
2. In the search bar type c++
3. for each of the listed redistributables, click the right most button and select modify, click yes to the UAC Prompt and in the window that comes up, click repair.
4. Do this for every one of the Redistributables from 2012 upwards.
5. Restart your computer
6. Try relaunching SteamVR
