Steam VR games freeze on Quest 2
Context: Hi. I’m using oculus through Virtual Desktop and Air Link. I’ve been playing HL Alyx and no problems (I have a 2070 rtx, 1gb routers, latency is perfect).

Problem: The issue is when I try games like: The Lab or Boneworks, both games froze at the beginning, sounds stop and stuttering and suddenly everything stop. I've never being able to make them work in the past. Only HL Alyx works.

Thanks.

On the Oculus PC app's settings make so Oculus is the OpenXR runtime, tho that doesn't work via VIrtual Desktop.

Done. Still freeze. Both Virtual Desktp and via Oculus PC app. Happens with many games except Half Life Alyx. Maybe something with my computer not the Quest 2 tho?.

You can check the resource usage of the PC on the task manager in the performance tab. You should also check temps.

no probably not. played a few vr games on pc via quest but ONLY Pavlov freezes. Will try HL: Alyx today, i think it is bc of the games.
MAYBE the Cable. But def not the Quest and not my PC.

If only one game freezes then it's probably an issue within that game.

In my case, it freese The Lab, some demos, even Oculus Home!, but not Hal Life Alyx. So I don't know if is my PC or headset (which I already factory reset but still freese).

All nvidia drivers oculus and windws is updated.

did anyone find the solution?

One possible issue can be overheating too.

I checked temps, and it was fine. Only about 20% of my cpu was being used, however 80% of my ram was being used.

That 80% is not nice, also what is your VRAM usage? If it is near or at the limit then your GPU might be using your RAM as memory, wich is very slow, and even if that is not the issue the high RAM usage would be a big bottleneck as the system would try to store RAM in the disk to save space, how much RAM do you have?

So...finally, after 2 long conversations with Meta Quest Support, they didn't solve my issue, so I decided to do a fresh Windows 11 install (before running win 10), and now the problem is solved.

Apparently, factory reset the quest 2 device, nor full reinstalling Oculus app (plus they told me to delete multiple personal folders), solved the issue. I believe it was something related to other apps installed on my computer.

Cheers
Freezing in Oculus Home drops a lot of the suspected problems but keep an eye out, might be a regressive problem.

If you have Home enabled then you should probably disable it, it's very heavy to just have it enabled.
