SteamVR

SteamVR

Suddenly Error 208 "Headset Not Connected Properly"
Until yesterday everything was great with my VIVE.
Unfortunately, since this morning, when i play SteamVR i get the Error 208 "Headset Not Connecteed Properly", and in the little SteamVR box, where usually are shown the green "Ready" text with all the green devices logos, i can see only the "Not Ready" red text and nothing more...no devices logos...neither gray ones.
Moreover, if I press "Reboot Headset", during the reboot process appear some lines in the box reporting:
"Error: HidD_GetAttributes failed"

Someone can help me?

Have you actually tried doing a full computer reboot, this normally fixes these type of errors for me, personally.

Yes. I tried to reboot many times but the problem persists. The led on the HMD is green and everything seems working well.
I tried to plug the hdmi and usb from the VIVE directly to my PC, I've unistalled and installed again my GPU drivers, steam and steamVR.
I don't understand what's wrong.

Check ALL the cable connections, power and USB and HDMI. Unplug and plug back in the cables where they enter the Vive HMD. Do the same at the Link Box and the Computer. One bad connection can cause the HMD to not connect.

I've tried everything but i have the same problem with 2 different notebooks with 2 different vive.
I really don't understand what's wrong.

For a laptop, check the Nvidia Control Panel settings, under the Manage 3D settings tab, you need to select Nvidia High Performance Graphics Card for SteamVr in the Program Settings section.

Done but nothing is changed. Still the same problem in both laptops

I see that the BCM2045A0 module driver is not available. Could that be a problem?

Unfortunately the problem is that the "bin" folder isn't under "Tools" but in the SteamVR main folder... if I try to put it inside the "Tool" folder I can't launch SteamVR because crashes.
Btw I've tried to launch vrmonitor.exe as administrator but nothing change.

sorry..... that link shows an old layout of SteamVR files. You are correct, the current version has "bin" in the main SteamVR folder. In the bin folder, then the win64 folder (if you run the 64 bit Windows 10) can you right click on "vrmonitor" and select "run as administrator"?

Already done...problem persists :(

Reinstall your SteamVR USB devices.

Unplug all cables from your PC. This includes any cables from the Link Box and any cables from controllers that are charging.

Launch Steam from your Start menu, desktop, or taskbar.

Click the VR button to start SteamVR.

Click the dropdown arrow next to SteamVR.

Click Settings.

Click Developer.

Click Remove all SteamVR USB Devices. You might have to scroll down a bit to find it.

Click Yes.

Click Continue.

Restart your PC.

Once your PC has booted back up, ensure that Steam isn't running. Plug the Link Box and your Vive's cables back into the PC, but use a different USB port for your HMD.

Once everything is plugged in, go ahead and launch Steam and SteamVR. Drivers will now be reinstalled, and you hopefully won't see the annoying error again.

I've followed this (and every other thread I could find in the last three days), and have walked through the steps (for each, though almost the same for most), but still have the Error 108/208 persist afterward. For clarity, I've:

1) Checked all Windows, Steam, Vive, and GPU (1080, fyi) drivers, and confirmed they're all current & updated correctly;

2) Removed and reinstalled SteamVR USB devices (w/ vrmonitor.exe run as Admin, yes) ;

3) Backed up titles/saves, and then reinstalled SteamVR entirely;

4) Checked all connections, confirmed correct placement and that none were loose, etc. (even inside the HMD);

5) Power-cycled the box (unplug from pwr, waited mins, replugged);

6) Confirmed that relevant settings in the SteamVR: Dev tab (Direct Mode, no beta, etc.) were correct;

7) and even rebooted between EACH step, just in case it helped. (It didn't, apparently.)

At this point, I've sent a documented service ticket up the line in a Hail Mary of IDK;WTF of a flickering hope that Steam/HTC figure this BS out, and asap. Especially since it seems to have been recognized as "a known issue" since launch :/ (!?)

Hi, I mentioned in the last error 208 thread that the latest drivers would not work for my gtx 1060. I had to install drivers from September 2017 to solve the problem from the Nvidia website.

as of yeaterday mine was fine too, now it starts goes to home and 6 seconds later it goes black and the led turns red. rendering my $800 vive useless. :steamsalty:
