Where did Allow Asynchronous Reprojection setting go? (beta problem)
It's been a while and many steamvr updates since I've used my Vive, and now loading it up I can't seem to find the Allow Asynchronous Reprojection options in the settings anymore.

This is something I need to be able to turn off, as in some games like The Lab and Batman VR the game is has a noticble stutter during play which isn't there when it is turned off, whereas other games work much better with it on.

Can anybody point me to where this has ended up now?

P.S. I am on the beta, is it still there in non-beta?

I find my system runs far better without these options. It's now baked in and adjusts automatically.

Well if they took it out it's a serious middle finger to anybody using a non-Rift headset, and a serious reason for me to reconsider ever buying anymore VR games on Steam.

why use steamvr beta over non beta?

Thanks, have gone back to non-beta and is there.

And why use beta? Because that's where new features come in. Eventually the beta ends up the non-beta, and if they don't change things that means Allow Async will be missing

Hopefully they just removed it for testing purposes. I still use it as my pc isn't really steamvr ready. I winged it. Barely.

Oh I've never used always on, it's the Allow that I'm worried about. Allow Async lets the async kick in when it's needed like you're describing. It is this that is causing the problem for some games. I know that they are trying to make it all more automatic without having to check a box, but if I can't turn it off that's going to cause the same problem I'm having now (and does in the beta)

oh i see. ty for the info. That would be nice. I still think the option to be able to select the type of reprojection should be included. Not sure how extended desktop mode works but it feels like the vive is set to whatever steamvr had it set to last. at least as far as the resolution. Been using it for Dirt 4. I don't think it really matters though. Everything I have tried to run in this mode runs like butter no matter the settings.

I have used every checkbox in the non beta at one point. I do a lot of fiddling with settings. My rig does not like Unreal at all and depending on the game I too have to change my settings. On the fly sounds nice... but I doubt it would work well with anything other then a steamvr ready pc. It's an extra step that my computer has to make... do i run in this mode or that mode? It would seem to cause more problems then it would solve on lower end pc's running the vive... compare it to adaptive degradation. It sounds good on paper but doesn't hold up in practice. Especially when you have people who stare at monitors all day and can see even the slightest graphical stutter.

Well whatever they're doing with this is still a bad idea. It may work great on a Vive, but Vive isn't the majority of the market anymore. If this winds up killing support for Rift, WMR, and anything else that comes down the line, then they're going to kill the VR Marketplace on Steam. It needs to be fixed to work better with ALL VR headsets, especially since they've been selling games for years for ALL VR headsets.

Simply put, the latest beta runs for crap on my Rift, and until it's fixed, I'm not buying any more VR games on Steam (which at least half of my games are from Steam anyway).

[Edit] And what I mean by working better, I mean allowing us to turn off SteamVRs reprojection jankiness. ASW is far better anyway.

@Fanty I made a work a round guide on how to run the vive in extended mode for non vr games. https://steamcommunity.com/app/250820/discussions/0/1733210552681668856/
Took me a few tries to get it to work right. luckily I have been able to ask the dev for support with desktopsbs. I just installed Arma 3 so i can try to figure out how it works with Opentrack. I hope to combine the two. Will be testing with Dirt 4. I tried Revive with Ark:Survival Evolved but couldn't get it to work and I doubt it would work very well if I did.

I'm not running beta and the Performance tab is not there. Can't find reprojection anywhere.

Open VR View and the Settings menu by right clicking SteamVR Icon in the taskbar. While VR View is the active window press Shift + A to turn Asynchronous Reprojection on and off. Should notice Green text in the upper left corner confirming. Again while VR View is the active window press Shift + R to turn on and off the other Reprojection which you can see in the settings menu lower left side in Orange. I have to do both to get the same results as before. Hope this helps anyone else with this issue.
