That makes it sound like it would also supress screenshot notifications, as they are, well, notifications.
As for the sound it makes, there is a setting for that in the Steam client settings, under In-Game and then on the right side under screenshot settings. No idea if this affects the VR screenshots but could be worth a try.
I think it is quite reasonable to expect to be able to diasable a feature I do not want and will never use, despite what you think of my clumsiness Inoc. I play PC games because I like the configurability that they, at least historically, did offer.

Sorry for necro, I just posted a custom keybind on the workshop that removes that keybind. It (I hope) won't take screenshots when you press grip and click the trackpad.
If you'd prefer to DIY, you can open steamVR settings > Controllers > Manage Controller Bindings > VR Dashboard > Custom > Edit this Binding > Chords, and delete both of them.
