Just launch Steam VR, click on the settings icon on the upper left corner of the small STeam VR pop up screen that appears and in general settings choose your refresh rate, provided you're using an Index or another device that allows that type of refresh rate.

it's very easy to spot, there are several tabs with the different refresh values. Can you tell us what exactly is your problem and also which hardware you're using?

The quest doesn't do 120/144hz with SteamVR. Get a proper VR headset.

Switching refresh rate in SteamVR is possible only for Valve Index....on the fly...
For Oculus headsets you should close SteamVR, change refresh rate in Oculus settings and start SteamVR again.

There might be work-a-rounds. On the Quest2 advanced/experimental menu (same one where Questlink enable exists) there's a 120hz refresh rate option.

While there are refresh options on VirtualDT and/or SteamVR I find most of my games are using 72hz - looks/works fine to me.

As for the battery in the Quest2 - I do my VR gaming in a easy chair and the Quest2 headset is almost always plugged into a USBC charge cord going to a wallwort off to my left. Battery life is not a issue with the headset - just the controllers (which seem to last a long while).

what is a a proper headset?...
i run numerous games wireless at 120hz.
seems like one that can run most applications and majority of games and the rest at 90 at basically 4k resolution would be a "proper" headset....
and so affordable too! i nearly got the htc vibe some years ago.. and then the index.. so glad i didn't after having used both and now owning a quest 2.
this thing simply flooding the market is going to allow for content for alot of platforms (even the proper ones) its the console version of vr headsets that I got on a whim... sure couldn't do that with any of the others all sitting around or more than $1k USD
though the facebook ♥♥♥♥ sucks.. hopefully discord makes an app for it

A headset that isn't made like a toy. The Q2 is an entry based average consumer-wide headset made to be cheap. FB's intention was to make it completely standalone. Them having PCVR support is just an additional feature but I don't see it potentially lasting for long considering that they're losing revenue for doing it. A proper headset would be something like the Index, Vive, G2, Pimax or anything else that is designed for PCVR as a priority.

No the Q2 isn't gonna "flood the market to allow for content for a lot of platforms." It's gonna lock everything up to one platform when Facebook decides to buy up all the VR game devs and exclusively launch titles to their store. It's called a monopoly and it hurts what is already a small gaming industry. There's a reason Oculus/Meta is being investigated for this behaviour. It's why many people here don't like reading Q2 posts. Game consoles aren't as big of a problem because one of the two biggest and essentially only consoles people buy is Microsoft. They also happen to own Windows.

I wouldn't say the Quest 2 is made like a toy. It is made with costs at a minimum, but it's still an amazing headset. Also A "PCVR headset" is bull because that just means it can't handle standalone, PCVR depends mostly on the computer, not the headset. Granted, the Q2 default settings are terrible on PCVR, but you can just go into a menu, change refresh rate and resolution, and you're all set.

lol is that what they think. PCVR gamers won't give a ♥♥♥♥ about their locked eco system. Sure it'll do for casual gamers and people that aren't game addicts like we are but I won't be buying anything from Meta/Facebook or anyone associated with them ever again.

Take a look here at their incompetence:

I learned my lesson. My next VR HMD will be purely PCVR.

SteamVR only seams to do 120hz on wireless mode on QUEST 3.
Massacher Aug 17, 2024 @ 3:01am
VR only goes up to 120Hz. There is no 144Hz. Not on Quest 3 anyway.

Valve index absolutely goes up to 144hz and the Refresh rate can absolutely be changed on the fly from the settings

Note I said its not possible on the Quest 3. I didn't mention anything about the Valve Index. If you try and set the refresh rate above what your HMD can handle you're going to have a bad time mmkay?

Have a real headset then, instead of a facebook headset then, that should've never been able to connect to a PC.
y'all chose your path, and the rest of us PC users chose our path.

I don't have it anymore. VR is not at the level that I want yet. So I sold it. I want Ready Player One level of VR. Anything else is trash.
