Delayed Audio Issue on Quest 2
When I am using my Quest 2 with SteamVR (on Windows 10) then I am experiencing a subtle (but still annoying) audio delay in the headset of about 100 - 200 ms. So the audio is a bit late and does not match the video content exactly. I think that SteamVR is the problem because it does not happen for games that are using the Oculus API directly (like Bullet Train).
The easiest for me to reproduce is to use the Steam Media Player to play a sync test video like this (ripped to local mp4): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ucZl6vQ_8Uo

But the audio delay is already noticeable in the SteamVR UI when pressing buttons and checking the confirmation sounds.
When I switch the audio device in the SteamVR UI from Quest internal headset audio to headphones directly connected to my PC then the audio lag is not happening. So it seems to be a problem with the Quest together with SteamVR.
As said the delay is subtle but easy to spot when playing the sync test video on the PC locally (in e.g. VLC) and then compare it when playing it in the Quest2 using Steam Media Player. Also there is no delay when playing the sync test video using DeoVR on AirLink directly (without SteamVR).
I am using the Quest2 connected to my PC using AirLink but I also tried to connect via USB but the problem also occurs.
Is this lag normal or does it only happen to me? Any idea what I could do about it?

Thank you!

SteamVR has some issues with the Quest 2 regarding delay both with video and audio (most noticeable when at high resolutions), I also experience that same lag when playing games, the easiest solutions seem to be to just play the games directly on Oculus ( using the "-vrmode Oculus" startup setting) or to use an substitute to SteamVR like OpenComposite.

Thanks for that. It seems that -vrmode (native Occulus support) is only available for a few games. I will give OpenComposite a try but the project does not seem very active since the last commit is 1 year old there. Also the Readme only confirms 3 games to be working.

If this is a general problem with SteamVR/Quest then I am baffled that I didn't see it mentioned somewhere when googling for it. Do people just don't care about this subtle (yet noticable) audio delay?

I am still having this issue and for me having a general audio delay makes SteamVR kinda unenjoyable :(

I think your best bet is to buy an extension cable for your headset and plug it directly into your computer as opposed to the headset's aux port or the headset's speakers in general. Hell late reply but I hope it all worked out for you. If you have a solution, I'd love to hear it lol
