Same. I've been using my HTC Vive for years, and yesterday after playing several hours I earlier that day I try booting STEAM VR and get this issue. I get this error every time I try to use STEAM VR now.

A Key component of Steam VR isn't working properly (301)
In the log I see this Tue Feb 22 2022 13:06:58.853 - Exception e06d7363

Yea im also having this issue, ive been having it for a while now. when i click the 301 thing it tells me that "VRApplicationError_IPCFailed" and the only solution is to "Remove or disable conflicting software". none of which i have on my system. ! TEMPORARY FIX ! or atleast something that works for me. Restart your pc, but open steam vr before anything else. if something turns on as you turn your pc on. you can go into the botom left, type startup, click startup apps. and disable most of them. I am using a HTC Vive, and ive never had problems with it up to this point. Hope this helps someone.

Has anyone had anything back from steam support yet I submitted a ticket
nicg2 Feb 23, 2022 @ 9:04am
I submitted a ticket and received the response :

"Please review our Programs Which May Interfere with Steam article. You may want to work with a specialist to determine if other programs may be contributing to the problem.

If none of those programs are installed or running, we would advice testing the issue using a SteamVR installation on a separate machine to rule out other local issues."

I'm fairly confident that this is not the issue. I was using my Vive earlier today and it was working fine until I opened steam again. I've not installed any new software since this time.

"I found a workaround that is working for me. From the SteamVR page, going to properties, betas, and selecting oculus_win7and8 - v1.15.12 for older Oculus software.

No idea why that works, but it's letting me back in past the menus and into the game again"

I found this suggestion, and it seems to be working when using this beta option. Might be good for a temporary fix.

Are you a vive user or occulus? I hope I'm able to use this work around on vive!

I have a support ticket in as well. Waiting for a response but I have got my Vive working by using a similar fix. SteamVR>Properties>Betas>1.20v public works for me now until they fix the latest update.

Same thing here with an HTC vive that's been working for years and suddenly stops working. I switched to the steamVR oculus one and it started working no problem. Thank you
