SteamVR

SteamVR

Does Steam VR need the sensors if I'm using a Quest 2?
Aight so you can tell by the title that I've got a Quest 2, not a Rift. I'm trying to play some VR games I bought off steam onto my laptop (MSI GE75 Raider) on said Q2. I've got a 20ft usb-usb c cable connecting them. SteamVR still says 'please plug in your headset'. Nothing I've tried works, Do I need the sensors from the HTC Vive to use SteamVR in the first place? How do I play my games on my Q2? Do I need a licensed Link cable? I'm new to VR and have very little idea what I'm doing, so any help is appreciated.

To play steam games on Q2 you can use the link cable or you can enable air link. You don't need sensors for the Q2.

It should work, you have to install the Oculus software on your laptop though, Otherwise steam won't recognise the hardware. You don't need the official link cable, but keep in mind some off brand C cables will work better than others.

You can also play wirelessly with Air Link if you can plug the laptop into a suitable router and enable this feature in the beta section of Oculus settings.
