if you are running smoothly for like 95% of the time but have the odd twitch or stutter you can try setting it to either 2, 3 or 4 frames to help smooth them over. best way is to try it out yourself and see what looks/feels better.
atleast thats my way of understanding it.
Now off is like 3-4, on is like 1 and ultra is new mode, which should prepare it just in time, also lowers drivers latency. Now we have also ultra low latency mode, which will be implemented into competitive games and work back with 900 series and reduce latency greatly like 30% or more!
It is possible you have old gpu and your drivers don't have it. But i had it even on 780 i think.
Edit: I think you are talking about low latency mode, ?
The difference between 2@120 vs 1@75 is about the same as 1@75 vs 1@90.
2@ 120hz is 0.0166 seconds per frame
2@ 144hz is 0.139 seconds per frame
1@ 75hz is 0.0133 seconds per frame
1@ 90hz is 0.0111 seconds per frame
1@ 120hz is 0.0833 seconds per frame
1@ 144hz is 0.0694 seconds per frame
