Most realistic graphic VR game to date?
What VR game truly looks real without any uncanny valley jank? Looking for the cream of the crop visual realism and graphics. Cell shading, cartoon, pixel style or the like is totally OFF the table.

I think its TVoEC, is there anything more visually real and convincing than The Vanishing of Ethan Carter?

I've noticed the darker a game is, the more it hides the screen door effect and pixelation. The underwater title, TheBlu, looked fully real. I suspect this is because the human fovia has only 2% blue cones, the rest red and green, so my vive is actually retinal resolution on blue scenes. TheBlu is not much of a "game," though.

How about Alyx?

I think this is one of the best looking PC games so far, even when compared to none vr games.

Yup, I have experienced some really nice games. Alyx is one. On the oculus side, lone echo is another, and one fun arcade game i love playing is eternity warriors. Visually nice looking games. Project wingman and contractors as well.

There are many more games with realistic graphics.

On the high end
Elite dangerous
Project cars 3

Zero Caliber seems to have nice looking graphics. Tough question to answer in a way because people always say the graphics look better through the lens.

The upcoming Medal of Honor VR game on Steam is an AAA FPS PC VR game, so I would expect it will probably have graphics about as good as you can get.

Karnage Chronicles, Primordian, The Soul Keeper and The Gallery pts One and Two.
Possibly The Wizards -Dark Times, but I haven't played it yet.
If you like eye candy, one of my favorites is Subnautica.

Most realistic? Hard to say. The one i love coming back to is No Man's Sky, but it can hardly qualify as realistic, since its sci-fi. Half Life Alyx is quite good, but still sci-fi. I hope for a present day immersive game that can keep us for hours.

for me i define realistic as a function rather then just texture and shadows. games where object move or are used realisticly i find much more immersive then say something like half life alyx. Dont get me wrong alyx was amazing and had alot going for it but because it was expected to be alot of peoples first vr experience it was obviously stitched up abit for better player ease of application. I like games that are not afraid to let you co*k up and loose/drop something. To me this adds a level of consequence to action or misaction along side creating an object permenance to your world and that feels way more realistic then nice shadows and lighting.

Alyx did have alot of object you could pick up but you couldnt let go of weapons, that next to something like blade and sorcery or even into the radius the latter two feel so much more immersive to me because I am aware of what is me in the game world and what is not me. i have influence over objects but they are only extension of me and not myself. The self and the not self.

but I guess your OP is about graphics only so Im gonna have to say half life alyx with boneworks as a close second ( only when maxed out) boneworks has a real nice consistency about its look where as Alyx is next to perfect photorealistic in some scenes.

Nothing currently in VR comes close to the "Virt A Mate" in realism if you have a system that can handle it. The models and physics are the best publicly offered. Most people dont even know it exists because of the devs mature angle although it could be as PG as you wanted. It is a simulator rather than game used to create just about anything.
Since I was using VAM some time before Half Life Alyx, I found HLA unfortunately very unimpressive in the realism category.

Are you trolling? They are totally not comparable, 1 is basically a character modeller/tool, the other is a game. While a bit of an exageration, you might as well compare cyperpunk 2077 to adobe photoshop..

Its a shame no dev is pushing visual VR boundaries.

I think Devistation has the only right answer(s); flight/driving sims or photogrammetry.

These seem to be the absolute tops so far:
  • Meeting Rembrandt: Master of Reality
  • Welcome to Light Fields
  • Real VR Fishing
  • Realities
  • Nefertari: Journey to Eternity
  • The Vanishing of Ethan Carter VR

Minesweeper VR

But for real I have to echo the consensus on Alyx.

Elite Dangerous is good because it doesn't have to do a whole lot to immerse you. It's not because the game was designed lazily around that VR, it's just that the devs don't actually have to do much to immerse you because of the nature of the game. That MAY change with the odyssey expansion - once it supports VR, that is.

Alyx, Lo-Fi, VRChat. Seriously.
before you get out the pitchforks: VRChat allows for the upload of literally ANYTHING.
There's worlds so hyperrealistic with 8k textures and full PBR and you'll think you're actually there.
The avatars can also be hyperrealistic.
It's just that anime style models are common (since they avoid uncanny valley and Japanese modeler are really good at full body weight painting)
But do they have to be?
No. You can upload anything you want. Do it right and you'll even maintain great frames.
