Stutter when head tracking in all vr games
(Vive cosmos)

I have stutter when I move my head around. The fps itself is fine though. I experience this in all my vr games, except when I'm in the Steamvr home or Vive home thing. A month ago I had no problems at all.

Latest drivers, no power saving stuff on usb ports, no oc apps running, ...
Must be a conflict with the nvidia drivers and steamvr.

Anyone have experience with this?

Don't worry, it's not you. I have a 3090 and still stuttering coming from a 2080ti. Known issue with nvidia, but unknown still where exactly the problem lies. It's being investigated.

ok guy's STOP trying to found the problem in your hardware,, your hardware is fine,, me too 1 week ago everything was perfect i was running Project cars2 with high settings all the way and broadcasting in the same time, plus 26cars on track it was running smooth as silk,,,BUT since the last STEAM update BANG nothing working i just can't PLAY or having fun with my vive cause STEAM IS THE CAUSE OF OUR PROBLEM, my gears or the nvidia driver are perfecly fine ( i did try go back old nvidia driver) same ♥♥♥♥,, in game if i move my head its horrible can't play,,,,and don't try to get help from steam they always going to say, it's your hardware,,,TO SOLVE THE PROBLEM REALLY SIMPLE, SELL YOUR VIVE ( cause you need steam to use it ) DELETE STEAM FROM YOUR PC,,, BUY AN OCULUS ( cause you don't need steam to use it ) ONLY THEN YOUR GOING TO APRECIATE THE VR EXPERIENCE,,, don't get me wrong i got a vive cosmos elite (that i love very much) ,,,WHEN STEAM LET ME USE IT ,,, so don't try to fix your gear it's a waist of time,,, ive got RTX ventus 2060 super 8Gb, 32 Gb of ram plenty enough for VR,,,,,so,, tell me guy's it's my gear the problem,,,,,,it's not

I also have a Vive Cosmos Elite and I'd LOVE to actually get playing literally anything but everything other than the SteamVR Home Menu has stutter so horrible it makes me dizzy. After checking a lot of other things (hardware specs, lighting in the room, space, rearranging basestations etc etc) I figured, it must be something about the software from either Steam, SteamVR or Vive itself. Is there any way to check if the responsible people are working on fixes for this?

Definitely not limited to Vive, I'm running an HP Reverb G2. Everything was perfect yesterday. This morning, I can go into the cliff house in WMR, I launch Steam VR and as soon as Steam VR home loads it's glitch city. However, I think the problem may be limited to Steam VR Home because if I launch WMR and then launch DCS World directly from the desktop, this launches Steam VR but skips the load of Steam VR Home and goes directly into the game, which then runs perfectly.

we should sue them '' steam '' cause in the week of the valve index, everyone was fine me too my gear to was sreaming live PC 2 setting on high 26 cars on track driving the view inside the helmet man was awsome most beautiful vr experience,,,,in the same time those who by the inex had problem make it run, all bad comment on their new gear '' valve index'', 1 week after they came with the last patch 1,15,,, , something i'm not abble to use my vr, it's been 3 weeks now the only thing i do is trying to make it work crystal clear again and driving, no mather what i try just don't work at all makes no difference its so blurry cannot use what i paid for, so i say let's sue them, we are on are right to do so,, '' the laws says,,,, if you can't enjoy what you have paid for,'' game, or services, or a rent ,,,, '' you a the right to,,,,, '' have a refund or sue them,,,, that's what the laws said,,,,, i'M in to start getting as mush signature i can get and do it for all of you,,,,,,,,,steam won't do anything about this problem and don't care about us,,,,, i buy 49 vr games and can't use them cause of steam fault,

I too have this problem, HTC Vive Pro, jitters when I move my head. In game not in game, it doesn't matter. martygravel48, like you I have bought a crap ton of VR games too and can't play them.

I noticed the following: after every game update, the first time I run the game everything works perfect. After that the problem returns.

I think Steamvr must be overwriting something which creates our problem.

A month ago I changed writing permissions to full control on my drive. Around that moment the problems began. Could this be the culprit?

You think there's a way to change that back to forbid Steam to overwrite things? Could be something worth a try. And if we can't do it ourselves, we gotta spam the support with possible solutions, haha.
I only had my VR Set for half a week but is this issue really going on since a month?? That's horrible, mate. Would expect them to fix it sooner.

Sometimes it works sometimes not. Loading to other game modes for example brings the issue back.

But there is one peculiar thing: Alt+tab

When you alt tab the game is no longer selected, but you can play perfectly. But you will have no sound.

When you select the game, the app is focused again in windows, you have sound, but the tracking goes back to ♥♥♥♥

Conclusion: Steamvr is the problem, not the games
