Under the developper section in parameters, there is a switch on steam VR BETA .

If you are using the stable version this is not possible.

Are their performance advantages to switching the runtime to Steam for Virtual Desktop ?

Thank you

I tried switching my SteamVR version to beta and the changing the runtime to OpenXR but it isn't a changeable field.

Can you post a screenshot please of the OpenXR Settings tab from Beta? If the current SteamVR runtime is already SteamVR, you won't be able to change this setting. If you want to change to a different runtime however, you need to update from that runtime instead.

Need help with this as well. Where can I find the option to change from OpenXR Setting to Steam VR? As of this post I cannot locate it. The Steam VR settings -> Developer -> Advanced screen looks like this:

It's in the SteamVR settings on desktop via the ≡ button in the top-left of SteamVR.  Go under "OpenXR" and select "SET STEAMVR AS OPENXR RUNTIME" for your system.  Restart SteamVR and reconnect then OpenXR titles should work.

Make sure you open the settings from the desktop window and not from within VR.

SteamVR only supports setting itself as the runtime. If you want to select another runtime, you will have to do so from the settings of the other runtime.

Maybe it's outside the desktop area. Try right-clicking it in the taskbar, select Move, press one of the arrow keys, and move the mouse to get it back in view.
