When I search previous version and actual version : I never see price change (eventually get another game)
Its bleeding edge tech so far with the finger tracking controllers; so anything that comes out cheaper with similar features might cause a drop in pricing [HP's upcoming set has promise and rumoured patent holdings by Sony for PSVR]. How much is to be seen based on supply demand and competition.
TLDR; not for a while, and probably not by much.
There is not much competition either. HTC flopped with Cosmos and FB signed off from PCVR, they are out for good. Reverb G2 is coming and that seems to be their main competitor now, but situation is little bit different than the discount war between Vive and Rift years ago.
This.... Check out comparisons between Index and Reverb G2 you might change your mind on the Index.
Personally, I never liked that the Index had plug in controllers, batteries don't last for ever, what then, another set of controllers? $369.00 I'd rather buy 4 rechargeable batteries
Controllers are the main reason I wouldn't go for G2. I don't want controllers that need batteries and that I couldn't upgrade. Headset might be good, but controllers are dividing people with that headset.
The headset itself yes, by leaps and bounds. But the controllers for the Reverb G2 is a step back in many aspects in comparison to the controllers for the Index and Rift. There's some YouTube videos explaining why.
You can jerryrig up Index controllers with the G2 if you have some basestations laying around and some very specific Bluetooth dongles, but the total cost brings it to nearly what the Index costs anyway.
also no chance of valve doing a sale of 90% on VR tech that's still at the forefront a year or two later
