8k VR video players?
do they exist? PLAYA said it supports 8k but i saw no difference between an 8k video and a 4k.

Lol, too funny! Your headset doesn't do 8k, so no, you won't see a difference!

Headsets also don't view the whole all-around 360° view at any given time, that would impossible without shrinking it horizontally. OP talks about videos specifically, not about rendered image. 8k resolution in 360° videos is for all-around view, not just what you see in the headset. For example horizontal part of 7680x4320 8k resolution is 7680 pixels. You can see only 2560 pixels wide area in a headset (Valve Index for example) that has horizontal fov of 120° (one third of 360°). Valve Index's combined resolution is 2880×1600 (2880px horizontal, which is larger than the 8k's 2560px). So, I would say that one could see the full resolution 8k 360° video with Valve Index and see the difference between 4k and 8k, but not the difference between 8k and 16k. 360° video players need huge resolutions for videos to show them clear (hence most 360° videos are so bad when compared to rendered image).

My thoughts were same at the first glance, but then I did some calculations and OP's question seems to be valid... but, I have no answer for that as I don't watch 360° videos with VR headsets at all.

^ this guy gets it. I was going to try to explain it, but you couldnt of said it better. I have tried virtual desktop and it shows, but the audio and video are not synced. There is no video lag only audio.
