Edit: I found this page[www.lenovo.com], which makes it seem like you have DisplayPort capability, but over USB-C, so you'd need an adapter to use it with standard DPs.
If I buy the HTC Link Box shown on Amazon. Will that resolve the HDMI issue?
And will a 3rd party power adapter be ok?
The link box is for the original Vive, it won't take a DP from the headset, so no it will not help you.
As I mentioned the page lists your laptop as having DP capability, but over USB-C, you need something that lets you plug in either a full size DP or miniDP to your USB-C port. That's the most straight forward way you could get this to work, basically.
A) USB-C to Displayport adapter (like these[www.amazon.com]) with the original Displayport to mini-Displayport cable.
B) or, you can replace the original cable with a USB-C to mini-Displayport cable (like these[www.amazon.com]).
Option B would be marginally better, fewer connectors means often fewer possible issues.
These are all the ports the Legion 5i have
1. USB-A 3.1 Gen 1 (always on)
2. Headphone / mic combo
3. RJ45 ethernet
4. USB-C 3.1 (DisplayPort™)
5. 2x USB-A 3.1 Gen 1
6. HDMI
7. Power input
8. Kensington lock slot
9. LED power indicator
10. Novo button
11. USB-A 3.1 Gen 1
I bought a HUB at Best Buy today that had an input for Mini-DP with a USB-C ----> PC, but it still didnt detect the headset during set up.Not sure if it was because its a HUB or not. http://www.amazon.com HyperDrive USB C Hub, Type C Adapter for MacBook Pro, Laptop USB-C Devices, Ultimate 11-in-1 Surface PC Docking Station w Power Delivery Charging, USBC 5Gbps Data, 4K HDMI, 3xUSB 3.1 Ports, VGA,
I did order a USB-C to Displayport adapter on Amazon, but that wont be here until Saturday, s its just a waiting game I guess.

I did get a basic response from VIVE customer support this morning and answered their questions and waiting for a response.
I guess wish me luck
this is the response I got from VIVE customer support
“ The port required will be at least mini-DP. The USB-C 3.1 (DisplayPort™) is not compatible with the headset, therefore, any adapters/converters wouldn't work and the headset will not be recognized. “
Guess I’m returning my Cosmos Elite
