sparkling pixels on Valve Index
For two month,i try to contact steam support because the screen of the index is plagued with sparkling multicolor pixels and it gets worse day after day.
I've tried to change the DP port (1 ,2 ,3), reseated all the connectors , removed usb hub and all kind of electric interferences ,update drivers , without success .
I am out of solution : i think it's related to the defection of the cable after so much use and torsion .
But impossible to have Steam support , each time, i have this message :
"There was a problem submitting your help request to Steam Support. Please wait a few minutes and try again.
If you are attempting to add large attachments please try to submit without them and add them to your request after submitting."

if it looks like a snow type sparkle ive heard it mostly likely a failing cable. if its colourful sparkles like firework id say its more likely to be your gpu.

Not in stone just a guess. do you have issues running non vr games at very high resolutions? it is your gpu overclocked?

it's more like "snow type sparkle" and the GPU is perfectly fine with my ASUS ultrawide at 3440x1440 resolution .
The real problem is to contact Steam support . I tried with several browsers and steam app of course and each time i have this message : "There was a problem submitting your help request to Steam Support. Please wait a few minutes and try again.

I think it's like a sort of filter due to their manufacturing issue to avoid RMA :(

I have seen a youtube video about this and it is due to the cable that connects the HMD to the PC, it internally fails and will get worse till one day it wont work at all. Look where the cable attaches to the HMD on the side you will see a tab it may be broken (or not, still cause of issue).

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RcsXVmwUPbw here is link to the video. the part I mention is at 7:50.

hope this helps you. He even says they will usually warranty the cable even if your off warranty.

Hi folks,

I have this issue. How do I purchase a new cable?

I have had the sparkling issue gradually getting worse for over a year now, until I went to VR Settings --> [Show] Advanced Settings --> VIdeo --> DisplayPort Training Mode --> Compatibility Mode B.

Seems fine for now, after a restart.

I don’t understand why, but it worked! I even had before the screen randomly turning off for a few seconds, but not anymore.

Thanks!
