what makes you think installing it on a different drive would fix this issue? just curious.

Answer and short comment:

Locate the SteamVR app within Steam found under Library, VR. Then right click the app, select properties, Local Files tab, Move Install Folder, select location you want the app to be.

Comment:
Agree with @ranXerox on the need to relocate to correct your issue as there are multiple possibilities remedy what you are experiencing from video driver reinstall, video card port you are using, reinstall of Steam and/or SteamVR, etc.

Perhaps others can give additional advice with more specifics if your search for other similar 308 posts did not resolve your issue.

I reinstalled steam onto my D drive and SteamVR is still on my C drive, my friend had the exact same problem and told me how to fix it , but not how to move SteamVR

It's not there, the only 4 options are "Browse local fiels" "backup tool files" "Uninstall tool" and "Verify Integrity of tool file"

It will appear after you setup a secondary install folder in your settings. There is a spot to where you have a secondary drive as a primary install location. Try that, shut down steam, restart, then retry change install location

view->settings->Downloads->steam library folders-> add new folder and choose your new default. restart steam and retry.

if it is installed correctly, it will show up there, if not, it will be missing...

yeah, no matter what i tryy, it seems to somehow be locked to one drive now (and yes, searched, deleted, registry cleaned - all of that...). never had any issue with installations anywhere i want before. maybe the last update broke the app? well, perfect timing, when i finally wanted to play NMS in vr...

well... i tried everything i could. there was no steamvr folder anymore, where it was installed originally, hence why the move folder didn´t do anything, since there was nothing to move.
the only way to fix it, was to free up just enough space to install it, then i could move it. manually moving it and registering the path again didn´t work.

reinstalled my system as well, since that was the plan anyway. that didn´t fix the issue though. really the only fix was what i explained above. weird, because i never had that issue before and i use steamvr (regular and betas) for years already. who knows... works now. so i can finally play the games from the humble vr bundle and others i only have in steam.

A while ago I bought a Corsair Force MP600 1TB PCIe Gen4 x4 NVMe M.2, my Steam folder was on my regular drive and it was getting crouded to say the least, so I just transfered the whole Steam folder to the new drive and instructed Steam to go get it's stuff at the new location. Easy peazy

yeah that didn´t fix it and i do that also for years. been there, done that. again, this was weird. ;)
