Video card: Sapphire AMD RX-570 8gig.
I tried both HDMI ports and a few 3.0 USB. I moved my PC for now am working from home! I also got a new monitor, so went from DVI to DisplayPort. Monitor has Freesync, so turned off in Radeon software. Rebooted, Enabled Direct Mode. all software up to date. One of the HDMI ports make my display goes into 4k mode, which makes my 1080p monitor not too happy.
I hope this helps "BladeBeastUK36's issue at the same time!. thanks.

go to Steam\steamapps\common\MixedRealityVRDriver\resources\settings
edit default.vrsettings
// Disable DX12 support
"forceDisableDX12": false
change to
// Disable DX12 support
"forceDisableDX12": true
Locating default.vrsettings for Windows Mixed Reality Portal for SteamVR
There are potentially multiple default.vrsettings files on your system, and it can be tricky to know which one to modify to enable the above behavior. The file that needs to be changed is part of the Windows Mixed Reality for SteamVR installation. On systems where you haven't modified your steam library path, it can be found at: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\MixedRealityVRDriver\resources\settings\default.vrsettings.
On systems where you've installed Windows Mixed Reality for SteamVR to a different path, you can locate the file by doing the following:
Locate Windows Mixed Reality for SteamVR in your Steam library, right-click it and select Properties...
In the properties window, select the LOCAL FILES tab, and click the BROWSE LOCAL FILES... button.
In the file explorer window that opens, you can locate default.vrsettings under the resources\settings folder.
Do I have to delete the default.vrsettings file?
NO
You edit it as described in the tip and save the file changes. File, save.
Okay not to sound stupid here but HOW do I edit the file. I right click it and nothing says edit. What do I do?
This tip is for experienced users; however editing information is provided below:
First make a backup of the file you will be editing:
Right click the default.vrsettings file
Select Copy
In the same window, Right click an empty area
Select Paste
Now you are ready to edit the default.vrsettings file
Right click the default.vrsettings file
Choose Open with
On the How do you want to Open this, uncheck, Always use this app to open .vrsettings files
Then select Notepad
*Note, you may need to find Notepad by clicking the [more apps] link on the popup window
Be sure to save your file once you are done editing.Start Windows Mixed Reality for SteamVR to see if this allows you to start SteamVR properly without the 301 error you have been experiencing till a proper application fix is released.
(You can opt in and out of the beta branch found under the application properties, via the drop down option on the beta tab)
